Support/Announcement Ideas on Improvements

Over the holiday break we are looking at making a few improvements to the site and update old threads.

If anyone has any ideas on new features they might like to see used in this forum please post any suggestions. Do realise somethings may be beyond our budget as someone needs to write the code for many things but it cant hurt to ask. Know that every cent (and some!) earned from ads that pop up during visits goes right back into upgrading and hosting this forum which is why we beg you to turn off ad blockers for this site.

Some things are free bar time so if you have any thread ideas lets hear them.

I have started the long process of updating the Where Are They Now thread which is going on 8 years old. As well as updating that thread I'll be making sure every player has their own player discussion thread. Please feel free to post any memories you have, especially of the older players. Rather start now then wait for them to pass away before we do.

Would also like to start a game day thread starting from 1995 that features pics and maybe footage from every game the team has played. Already started collecting pics as part of my jersey research and collection. Maybe even do it as a profile with results, team list, stadium, stats, pics, footage, media reports, news clippings etc. Taj and I have discussed this but its a huge undertaking but a lot of it already exists via sites like the NRL and Rugby League Project.

The idea is to not only have a forum to discuss the team and sport we love but be an all encompassing encyclopedia of everything Warriors that future generations can research and enjoy as this site will be passed on one day to the next generation of degenrates like us.

Is there a way to have an automatic score update on the gameday site. During poor performances it is far more entertaining following the thread than watching the game

Gameday threads have had live score and stat updates for 2 seasons now.

Push notifications for mobile?
If on Android based mobiles, it is supported via the site's Web app. If you are a Android user reach out to me and I'll help set it up. Some users are already using it.

Apple phones don't support Web app notifications currently - though there have been some improvements in the latest IOS build. Waiting on latest forum software to see if enough has been done on Apple side where the notifications can be bridged.

Apple plan on bringing support for it in 2023 (7+ years after things are common in Android as usual) - https://www.izooto.com/blog/ios-safari-push-notifications

I would really like to see team photos from every year and grade if possible, not sure how good it would look, but I think it is definitely leads to the encyclopedia approach, and keep updating the jersey profiles!
The closest we have to that is the player profile thread which I update every year just using the pics from the Warriors site.

I have the team poster from every year but have no idea how to get them scanned as mine is too small...

mt.wellington mt.wellington the club may be able to send you a jpeg files of the posters if you explain why you need them or take the posters to a copy center and have them scan them for you. Otherwise, someone with access to a A3 photocopier/scanner from here may be able to do it for you. I would offer to scan them for you but mine only goes up to A4.

I have been combing all old posts that mention former players and piecing them together to form player discussion threads.

If you see any of your posts and you swear you didnt post in that thread or you read posts that seem somewhat out of context then this is why. They are coming from recruitment, game day, memory lane etc threads from this forum and the old one.

Some have been replies that have been edited to remove the post thats being replied to. Most are from separate threads that are all about the same player.

If anyone has any issue whatsoever with this just message me and I'll sort it out or stop using your old posts and apologise profusely 😅...

Loving the work you’re putting in to these ex player updates mt.wellington mt.wellington
Learning more about many of our former players than I knew when they were with us. Thanks brother.
Appreciate that. Have had to make up a few of the players discussion threads cause either no one talked about them or the only comments there were were talking about how shit they were lol. Not the sort of comments we want to remember a player by when the only 5 posts in their thread are like that...

No improvement in sight for A-League's worst surface
Updated
November 1 2012 - 5:11pm
By James Gardiner

WESTS general manager Phil Gardner cannot guarantee the substandard pitch at Energy Australia Stadium will be improved for the Jets' blockbuster against Melbourne on January 10 but said ground staff were managing the situation as best possible.
A survey of A-League captains yesterday nominated the Jets' pitch as the worst of the 10 in the competition, giving it an average of 2.4 out of five.
That assessment was completed at the end of round 18. The Jets beat the Gold Coast 3-2 in that fixture but lost marquee midfielder Fabio Vignaroli to a season-ending knee injury that was blamed in part on the shifting ground.
The pitch has deteriorated further since then. Bare patches and divots were noticeable during the 3-2 win over North Queensland on Sunday.
"The ground has not been renovated for some time," Gardner said.
"Until it is renovated, it's being husbanded through so the Jets can get through their full season. The issue around ground surface is being managed to get it as good as possible. I could not say yes or no if it will be better [for the next game]."
Just who is responsible for the surface is uncertain.
The Knights have the stadium management rights but subcontract labour from Wests to maintain the pitch.
Head groundsman Greig Chadban resigned this month.
Danny Sullivan has taken over and works in conjunction with stadium manager Neville Allan.

Both have been instructed not to comment.
The Herald has learned the bare patches are the result of a weed thegroundsmen are trying to choke out by mowing the grass lower than usual to allow the couch grass to run.
"I don't think there is a shortage of staff . The issue is getting this weed out," Gardner said. "We subcontract labour to the Knights, but they are in charge."
Jets CEO John Tsatsimas has met twice with ground staff and said there was little more they could do.
"They pointed to a growing period and said the oval was in a transition phase," Tsatsimas said.
"We take their points on board and hope it is in better condition for the next game. Are we disappointed? Yes. Is there much we can do about it? Probably not."
The ground is unlikely to return to peak condition until after an arbitration hearing in March that will settle the long dispute between the Knights and Hunter Venues Authority.
There is speculation that after arbitration the Knights would be prepared to discuss relinquishing stadium management rights to HVA in return for compensation.
It is understood the Knights and Wests are reluctant to pour extra resources into the ground until after arbitration.
