What about the Act MP Nicole McKee, who was previously the president of New Zealand Council of Licensed Firearm Owners, which has been funded and trained in PR by the NRA...

Pretty clear how easily the NZ political set up can be influenced by money.
Right wing politics has swept the world. Look at the amount of countries that have gone this way in recent times. America is on the verge of moving this way again, would say Australia would be one of the few that have moved the other way under a current labour government, though they are mining the guts out of it which isn’t deemed very clean. Certainly feels like a steps are moving in the opposite direction to democracy.

Concentration of wealth and power in the face of true progression

People got feed up with nothing happening, things getting worse. It's always the precursor to a lurch right or left.

Remember when we had fifty Kiwis murdered by a white supremacist Terrorist and the NRA raced over here to fight the removal of AR15s etc off our streets?

They literally are corporation monsters of evil with direct line to pressuring New Zealand to put guns on the streets and create a world that includes mass shootings in schools.

Fortunately they were told to piss off and that would not get a voice in the discussion.

That has all changed now. The Yank Gun association have a plant inside our Govt, big Tobacco have a plant and big Pharma have a plant. This govt is fucked up.

Frightening when it was later revealed that a school kid had been trying to get a machine gun to take to school eh.

I will be honest here and say that I live in fear now. Not being hysterical about it, just being honest that this govt has me afraid for my children's safety and wellfare.

Im surprised this potential gun reform piece hasn't received greater attention. I've already written in expressing concerns around not having a gun registry and whether restrictions on automatic and semi automatic weapons will be eased. As an island nation with limited ports of access we are in a fairly unique situation to control firearms to a large extent. I would hate to see that compromised by easing of legislation.

Jeez, that’s appalling. How can they sleep at night? Have they forgotten the mosque attacks which was in total part to our lax gun licensing laws, ability to legally acquire a friggin arsenal and nutty gun club members who turned a blind eye to the nut job in their midst. It’s stuff like this that makes me wish we had a litigation culture in nz as a lot of parties would have been sued out of existence…

If we care so much about what people do in the past, you all realise Jacinda was President of the International Union of Socialist Youth and a Mormon.

An anti-capitalist religious fanatic - just for some balance and perspective around here 🤣
