Hohaia wants Test spot
Sportal

New Zealand Warriors utility back Lance Hohaia is looking beyond this year's NRL season and casting his eye on a possible Kiwis jumper for the upcoming Tri-Nations in November.

The 23-year-old has been in and out of the first-grade side throughout 2006 and he admits it has been frustrating at times.

However, he remains hopeful he has done enough, when he has played for the Warriors, to regain his place in the Kiwis side.

Hohaia, playing in the centres on Saturday night as a late replacement for the injured Tony Martin, starred with a two-try effort to help the Warriors secure an easy 26-0 win over the hapless North Queensland Cowboys.

"There's three games left and then there's the Kiwis coming up," he told NZPA.

"I just want to keep playing well and putting myself in the frame for that."

Hohaia is fast making a name for himself as a player who performs best when his back is against the wall.

The last time the stocky half was called into the side just prior to kick-off, he starred again, that time scoring a hat-trick as his side crushed the South Sydney Rabbitohs 66-0.

Hohaia attributes his mixed season to a number of injuries which have cost him time in the first-grade side.

"I've had a few injuries that sort of pull you down," he said.

However, he says he has recovered and is ready to show Kiwis selectors that he is capable of footing it with the best in the game again.

"It's had an effect on my confidence and my form so I'm just happy to be back out there and playing well," he said.

I don't think David Faiumu would be ahead of Lance on form, i think Lance should get a bench spot at least if he keeps last weeks form up.

The thing about Bluey is that he shows loyalty.....Hohaia didn't let him down at any stage durring the tri-nations. Sooooo Mr Mix would you like to put your money where your mouth is with Lance being in the Kiwi squad?

Yup sure would.

Lance will not be in the starting 17 for the first test. You name ya terms

I could imagine him being picked on loyalty but not form Sebas, he's played one ok game and you wanna throw a black jersey on his back over guys who have performed very well this year?

A deal forged in the fires of hell itself.

Consider it done

Lance was outstanding in last years tri nats until he got injured. Players with class, Jones, Johns Lockyer ( Lance is way back from them but has that gift that cant be taught) Hohia can pick up exactly where he left off.

When given a fair go he reads a game like those other superstars
