What happened is that after beating the asuuies in Sydney for the first time in 50 odd years and beating the Roos in a series for the first time since god knows when the Kiwis have been over looked for the team of the year award. Disgusting!

God I can't believe this place history is made 24-0 only the second time ever that Australia has been kept scoreleess in a game where they have been dominant for so long and the Kiwi boys don't even get nominated.Its absolute crap!!!!!

the Kiwi rugby league team have missed out on being finalists for the Team of the Year at the annual Halberg Awards.

ONE News understands that the Halberg judging panel has overlooked the Kiwis for one of the four finalist spots, opting instead to go with the All Blacks and the three rowing crews that won gold medals at the world championships in Japan.

The Kiwis won the Tri-Nations tournament, beating Australia 24-0 in the final to become the first team to beat the world champions in a series since 1972.

Rowing New Zealand wanted to enter there crews as one team but were not permitted to do so by the awards panel meaning that the Kiwis and badminton pair Dan Shirley and Sara Runesten-Petersen miss out altogether.

The Halberg Awards will be live on TV ONE.

If its got nothing to do with the dates then cut off etc then its a disgrace.

The All Blacks won the Grand Slam in 78 Kiwis havent betten Aussie twice longer than that. Havent won a series in donkeys and this is the 1st time they have won the tri series. If the All Blacks won 5 lost 5 next year they still will get nominated.
Im not saying that the kiwis were better than any of the Rowing crews but they were more successful than the dam All Blacks.

The voting panel of 24 (i think) is heavely in favour of athletics and rugby, only one member had ANY rugby league experience. Also heres a thought, didn't the NZ softballers do alright this year?

Yet year in year out we see the All Blacks get in along with the silver ferns and the rowers and some times the cyclists....what a crock!!!

Now to be fair to rowing NZ when they found out they had so many of there rowers in the team of the year they offered to group them all into one to make room for another team to enter so well done rowing NZ on your efforts this year and on not being snobbish and selfish.

The Halbergs have become a highbrow and politically correct affair anyway - no self-respecting rugby league person should go anywhere near it.
I'm happy with the achievements of OUR Kiwi team this year and don't need any patronising award from the sporting "elite" to vindicate that success.

Maybe Kav's got a point, in think when the peoples awards come out next year it might be a fairer indication where the boys stand in the publics eyes.
