2 GFs, 2 Losses. The 2011 team looks better on paper then the 2002 team but the 2002 team IMO where unstoppable. Just goes to show no matter what backline you have, if the forwards dominate, the backs penetrate and we celebrate. For me 2002 hands down

2002 for me simply because all of those guys (Stacey, Ali, Toopi, PJ etc) were in career best form. When I look at the 2011 team I think that their best is yet to come.

I posted this mainly for the forward packs. Maloney behind the 2002 forward pack would of been awesome. The 2011 forwards have potential just not the kahunas IMO

Two thousand and two easy.

No one can take the minor premiership off those guys that's what we want , a team that goes into GF in first or secound of the regular season....a Genuine Title hope who have delivered exciting consistent footy all year

You realise all the Warriors haters will simply point out that we only got the Minor Premiership through the Bulldogs breach, and subsequent loss of 40 competition points. They were far more dominant than we were. They won 20 and drew 1. They started the season with a loss, follwed by a draw and then won 17 in a row. 2 of their 3 losses came after the salary cap punishment had been decided.

Back on track, I reckon the 2002 number 14 was a much better player than the 2011 one.o_O

Can anyone tell me why when I tried to post this, I was told I had to wait 541 seconds before posting? Am I being punished or something?

What people tend to forget/ignore is that in the latter part of that season, only one team dominated the Bulldogs pack BEFORE the salary cap punishment was announced, the Warriors, Round 22, at Mt Smart.

Also, the Bulldogs had 37 points stripped, not 40.

Yeah. My bad. I bluffed a little with my facts, as I hadn't gotten around to checking the finer points. I estimated 40 points and had forgotten that the breach was exposed the week after we played and beat them.

None the less, it is still easy for someone to argue that we had a slight advantage in our favour to claim the Minor Premiership, through the punishment of the Bulldogs, who had totally dominated the comp before the scandal broke. We were not the team who won the most regular season games that year.

We wouldn't have won the MP that year because, even if the Doggies didn't have the points deducted and didn't win anymore games, we would have finished on 34 points and the Doggies would have finished with 37 points.

I just get disappointed when fans from other clubs say we shouldn't have made the GF cos the Doggies weren't there.

yes, but dont forget we would have made the finals and won the grand final that year we started on -4 or -6 if we hadnt been handicapped like that. i say 2002 just for the consistantly good play all season and they were an awesome force that made the aussies sit up and take notice. I get the feeling that was the year the aussies said 'shit, what have we done letting these guys into our competition?' 2011 for potential though...maybe

The Warriors were also the team that ended the Dogs unbeaten run in 2002, plus even if the Dogs didn't lose the points the Warriors would still have been second and deserving of a GF appearance.

Bulldogs rorted the cap. They weren't minor premiers and didn't deserve to be.

And yes the "we shouldn't have made the GF" nonsense does get a little tiresome.

Easy one here. 2002. Loved the PJ Marsh & Stacey Jones combo. Ivans kicking won us the close games. Who could forget the crowd rumble everytime big Tooks got the ball. Clinton Toopi second only to Vagana in the centres. Ali was amazing and deserved his Prop of the year at the Dallys that year. Meli on the wing was a try scoring machine. Villa the Gorillas hits. Hardman Campion. That game that we beat the Bulldogs at home was one of the best games Ive been to. Second only to the Roosters finals footy game of 2008 I think. Did Henry Faafili not play the final?

Ali won 2nd rower of the year, not prop bro. As good as PJ was, Stacey was incredible, I'm a huge Shaun Johnson fan obviously but comparing 2002 Stacey to last years Shaun Johnson is an absolute no contest. Clearly was a great kicker and Ali and Toopi were lethal down the left! Seuseu I think its forgotten how good he was, he got us rolling forward. Campion was a great player, basically a better version of Michael Luck and definately more of an enforcer. That Warriors team beats any other Warriors team hands down......

Second rower. you got me there. Jones was amazing that year and was no doubt the key to the whole season. I will never forget as long as I live that try he scored in the Grand Final and to me just showed just how good he really was. Won the Golden Boot that year too.
