General FOUR VODAFONE WARRIORS IN TEAM OF THE WEEK

Rugby League Week has singled out four Vodafone Warriors for its team of the week after the club's victory over Newcastle.
Second rower Awen Guttenbeil makes the selection for the second week running. Against the Knights he topped the tackle count with 27, made 145 metres from 16 hit-ups (second best) and was also the top off loader with four.
Winger Manu Vatuvei also makes the publication's top combination for the second successive week. He scored another try - maintaining a perfect record in four matches this year - and was credited with 112 metres from six hit-ups.
Joining Guttenbeil and Vatuvei in the side are captain Steve Price and back-up prop Evarn Tuimavave, who is named on the bench.
Price topped the metres gained for his side (158) and hit-ups (18) as well as making 20 tackles. In his 30th match for the club, Tuimavave scored the Vodafone Warriors' 1000th try in history, stepped and broke the line to create Grant Rovelli's try, made 144 metres from 17 hit ups, added 20 tackles without a miss and also popped out two off loads.

Good work Warriors ;)

Awen
Manu
Price
Tuimavave

3 forwards there and one that hits it up like a forward. Thats go forward power.

And good to see some consistency! Two players there for the second week in a row.

Tuimavave played the best games he has ever played as a warrior

Thats a very good effort from the boys , a quarter of the team made up of Warriors... pinch me is this the 2002 season or am i dreaming lol.

All totally justified in their selection and as Cleary said earlier on this week we still havent seen the best from the boys yet!

It doesnt really matter if these guys made the team of the week or not. Most of our players made the team of the week after we beat the Broncos last year in Rd 2 and other times. The team of the week unfortunately does not show consistency. And It would be a feat and something to be proud of if we keep seeing these names consistently in the team of the week. And that will corrospond with the Warriors winning more. We need to beat Manly this week and that is a do or die effort. Names in the team of the week unfortunately do not help us much going by history and last year. Infact our players seem to play better when they get bagged.

I thought Evarn and Price deserved to, Manu had a solid game but surely Matt Sing and Amos Roberts were hands down the best wingers last week. Amos Roberts just seems to have that x factor and can throw the miracle pass to players and make a line break when you need to and Matt Sing is really reliable.

It is also good to see Awen there. He gets bagged alot. And Tuimavave deserves it for his efforts over the past 4 weeks. There is something there for him to realise that hard work pays off.

Agreed, and that's why it's great to see both Guttenbeil and Vatuvei in the lineup two weeks in a row. Hopefully that run can continue, following a win over the Sea Eagles this Sunday. ;)

do you put any credence in what they say at Rugby League Week ?

sure, pricey had a good game and the other 3 had improving games. they get selected in this rag because they play lousy in 1 game and the next, try a bit harder.
what happened to consistency ?

bit like naming nathan fein as M.O.M last leek ?

All mags rate players based on who wins and how significant the win was. If South Sydney beat the Tigers by 80 then you would see more players in their team of the week even though they just "caught the ball and scored".

Brent Webb deserved to be in the team of the week. No other fullback was as instrumental as Webb this week. The only reason he did not get in there is because Nth QLD are on fire and their little fullback is part of the reason they are on fire. So lesser teams, even when they have outstanding wins will not have players feature. Like Stacey Jones did not feature in the team of the week much yet he was 1-3rd in the Dally M points table till Rd 14.

Unbelievable, since Awen Guttenbeil is often rated as an over the hill no good failure on these forums....

Its even more unbelievable that the performances from the last two weeks from Awen have not been any different than the performances Awen's offered up since halfway through last year.

Good on him - he deserves a Kiwis jumper.

Awen`s just a victim of being one of those "underrated" players... gives a great, solid performance game after game, is as tough as nails, and any NRL team would be lucky to have him on their squad.

im really glad they were named. well deserved. very happy for all 4 of them even if it is just rugby league week, at least they are getting the recognition they deserve. even though a kiwi jumper would be nicer...

he,s definitely better than last year, but that wouldnt be hard.

Who's the poster of?? is it the darren lockyer one?? *yawn*

We've been tipped against in nearly every magazine in the(auss.) country against manly.
We've been written off by the betting agency as well 1.55 manly 2.30 us and its our home game and with also won two in a row. Come on, even odds at LEAST!! Its disgracefull,i for one am amazed with been credited with rlw, & gratefull.
But hey thats the way we like it written off and coming from nowhere to Win(tri nations).

Seb

I expect nothing less.

I might even put a few pounds on them...

...yep, it's taken four games but at those ridiculous odds, the boys have got my Korean won this week...damn that TAB internet site is toooo handy...
