Cam Smith style kicks to the head are quite acceptable.

If you want to hit someone high, make sure your arm bounces up off the ball first.

Tripping isn't tripping if you claim you slipped on a patch of mud.

I think your taking about League? So that means your team was 2 points behind and someone went for a FG??

My advice would be to have a captain who didnt skip maths...

If your talking about Union keep your hands out of the ruck, or dont come in running from the side, or dont be infront of the last mans feat, or do not push early in the scrum, or do not hold onto the ball too long, or do not drive over the ruck. Basically dont play Rugby..

Also on a side note. Physically (and I have tried this), there is a perfect way of tackling even if you are a small guy. Go back to 2003 Warriors vs Bulldogs Rd 2 and watch the game where Hohaia smashed Willie Mason when he came flying in and made a perfect tackle and copy that technique.

I remember that tackle the person that should of seen that video was Matty Bowen.
I play rugby not league at the moment, though a switch could possible in the near future, if this season goes to crap like the last couple.

As for the punch fend I have been talking to a fella at work who does karatae about effectivve fending

Jon on the first ruck grab the guys nuts and squeeze, not too hard , just enough to let hiom know that there are yours anytime you want them. It certainly takes his mind off of the game. It work wonders for Buck Shelford in the late 70's.

Also any other good one is to stamp on his foot and ground your boot hard into his toes. Makes them go all numb and takes about 15 minutes for them to come right.

These are just old school tricks that I was taught back in the 70's. Not dirty as such back then. Just part of the game. Anything to put off the opposition.

Could tell you alot of tricks from back then, I was playing senior rugby in Auckland and learnt alot from the likes of Laurie Mains and the Whettons.

ps Buck got 2 weeks for the nut trick, secret is not to get caught ! he did !

There are so many things I could make out of that statement, but for the others on this forum, I will refrain...

This is similar to some advice I recived on Saturday night from an older prop. He is a tight head, and he says if the loosehead is boring into your ribs, give is ear a nible and say "next time I will bite it off if you don't stop it" im not sure if I will take head to this advice.

Nah, that comes from alot of rubbing and irration, fluid builds up and hardens creating that deformed look, to stop that happening get a pin and put a prick in the ear and let the fluid drain away.
