General Faumuina conspiracy

Okay, saw this mentioned on LU. Around the time of Sione's outburst (which, by the way, was along the lines of that he was gonna quit cos he could play at whatever club he wanted or something to that degree) he was in talks with other clubs, namingly Manly. Now he knew, FULLY knew that he was on last warning before then but somehow avoided the sack.

Maybe he wanted the sack, because now he committed yet another alcohol related offence knowing full well what the penalty would beand is already heavily linked with Manly, the club most linked at the exact time of the last offence.

Remembering that they still haven't bought a replacement for BK, in fact have held off purchasing or really entering tendering for one to fill the ranks. Then conveniently this all happens and they're in there quicker than Sticky got the boot.

Maybe hitting the pizzle is a perfect excuse for someone who wanted to violate their contract and get the fock out. He openly resented his 'treatment' last endseason / preseason and sour grapes could have manifested in looking elsewhere - Which you can't do if you're under contract.

Thoughts?

I heard that he was already in talks with Manly straight after the incident at Awen's testimonial, but denied it in the Sunday News.

It does seem interesting that the Sea Eagles haven't pursued a replacement for Kennedy, maybe Faumuina has been their target since their talks with him after the testimonial incident.

Peter Peters, Manly's football manager, has denied that Manly are seeking Faumuina's signature. If what he says is true, it's most likely that Sione will be yet another export to the ESL.

Zlad likes Dr J's conspiracy theory.

sione is too talented a player (albeit extremely prone to massive brain farts) to be on the market for very long. he'll be signed by another team soon. if it turns out to be manly, well then.......

most nrl clubs would not be able to afford sione as its long after the player rosters have been finalised by most clubs. either he plays for peanuts next year for an nrl club or the 'homesick' player will be in the ESL.

i agree..goodbye and see ya to him. no time for prima donnas who have no respect for peoples achievements.

Happy trails to you, Fumbles... all roads lead away from Auckland, in your case. By this time next year, 90% of Warriors fans will be struggling to remember his name.

nah jez, he's said he won't go to ESL, he believes he's got what it takes to be the best in the NRL and wants to prove that. he will only negotiate with NRL teams.

Being the best means handling yourself off the field as well as on.

Lol @ Peter Peters, the only thing close to that that I know of is the Seattle Seahawks running back Maurice Morris.

Anyway, interesting to note about Sione Faumuina is that if you remember correctly, the reason he left Canberra a few years ago was because of homesickness. He was struggling mentally and physically away from home.

If I was an ESL team (or NRL team for that matter) I would be staying the hell away from Faumuina. Its a shame really, alot of talent but no discipline.

Booze wasnt Siones only problem.
But he was one of our standout players around the Daniel Anderson era. In fact in 2003 he was on fire especially against the dogs in the prelim' finals. And at that time he was one of our favourites. Those were good times alright, but then he went downhill. The split up from his partner, which like many can comprehend to, sent him downhill and pretty fast. The booze became an easy escape. Although there were things put in place to help him out, the thing that was missing, was his wanting to go through with it. That is the true test of charactor, in which he failed big time. Sad really. He aint the first to be sacked for drinking and insulting, and he wont be the last. Lets hope its a while before it happens at the Warriors again.

yes indeed. I don't think he did this on purpose to get out of his contract at all. I am sure he would have liked to have stayed but in the end there is nobody to blame but himself. I am sure another club will pick him up he has talent to burn and a club somewhere out there will be needing it.

This is what happened to Sione according to fans.

At the after match function on Sunday he turned up not in uniform pissed. Some fans went up & asked for autograph & were told f..k you.

Cleary got wind of it & went to speak to him & was told the same thing.

So much for the conspiracy Factor

I didn't notice the Cleary aspect of that incident, but the rest is pretty accurate. He didn't seem drunk, but he'd definitely been drinking.
