Looking forward to smashing the Rabbitohs. Yes, we're both Owen Two but they're Owen Two playing shithouse...

I don't have a major problem with being some team's bunny. There are teams who haven't beaten us for ages. Be nice if we could end a few bad runs, though.

Disappointing to lose 2 winnable games but Sharks and Storm both stepped it up like crazy against us and are both good teams. I think Paps speed and x factor was the difference in that game and those plays to our outside where they had papenhuyzen and a 2nd rower both running lines at our 2nd rowers was very elite timing to make those plays.

Positive signs we can match it with the top teams though we just need to get some w's in the board.

I think well come right next week. Last year was a bit of a slower start too and honestly I didn't even think that we'd be this competitive, this early in.
Yeah forsure. Last year we seemed to start each game off terribly but we learnt from that as the season went on.

This year, started first 20 minutes strong then played poor. Last night first 20 played poor then we played strong for the remainder so there's improvement there already.

Should get into the groove going forward, really should take a lot of confidence out of that game. Reigning premiers couldn't even cross the line against Melbourne.

We just need that one game to start well and finish well

Having watched some of the other games this weekend, Tuaupiki is already a better FB than some of the regular starters in the comp - such as Taffe for example.
He just needs to pin his ears back and back himself. Looked a bit indecisive early on but nothing you wouldn't expect from a kid with a small amount of first grade experience and some nerves in a big occasion. The potential is there and he showed patches of it last night.

This week has to be about how we move on from this game, they absolutely can't dwell on that loss.
I can't move on!!!, why should I in fact I not gonna!! everyone is saying I should do that, why should I, I just wanna wallow in self pity, put my head in the sand and curse the footy gods WTF!!!!, everyone, everything is against me the universe is against my beloved team, the sharks game we couldn't catch a break, lady luck that slut f'd off the 2x bitch went to panthers storm game WTF! I don't want happy thoughts, when I was a young fella just starting out in the world they never said I would be going thru all this turmoil highs n lows, I've been thru so much in my life the under arm ball, the Frances forward pass against the ABs, the loss against south Africa in 95 WC (we should of won!!!) covid19 where we had to stay in oz to keep the nrl going etc - need I say more!!! I didn't think getting married having 7 kids and 7 moko's could be topped by so much joy and so much heart break, I think I've found it!!! watching my beloved warriors lose a game which we should have won, I put this on par with the abs 95 world cup game against the spring box the difference was I thought the abs would win quite easily especially since we had the great Jonah Lomu in our team, however, initially I thought against the storm we had a slight chance to win especially with the Webster effect, and by the second half I thought "here we go" we gonna win, it's in the bag - nek minit - dam it all!! and yes I can blame the ref no if or buts the blame rests solely on the arbitrators of our beautiful game - yes I am throwing a hissy fit, throwing a tantrum, spitting the dummy, stepping out of my big boy pants, got my little boy pants on, not going to church today, not saying hello to anyone, staying in my room all day keeping the door shut, keeping the curtains closed in general being a grumpy bum until my moko's come over to see koro then I'll be happy, what's really Peeing me off is that I really can't blame anyone, it is what it is we just lost, the ref was fairly ok, better than what I thought we would get from the ozzy refs, AAARHHHHH damit all!!!!! who can I blame!!!! tried blaming metcalf for his stupid dummy half pass for a knock on, not even ow, I'm sick and tired of being the awesome person, being the good person who sucks it up and not make a scene... ok enough of that I'm happy now, life is full of disappointments - suck it up buttercup on to Christchurch to round 3 against the raiders - here we go UP DA WAHZ!!!!!

Sitting at a wedding reception during the game and having to head to the toilets to check on the scores. Sure the guests thought there was something going on with the exodus from the top table through the night.

Thought we were in with a chance there with 5 to go, in fact so confident I didn't check again for half an hour so. Bitterly disappointed although my wife gave me kudos for the tears (thought is was whanau)

Just watched the game and still disappointed but I'm thinking we're the real deal. Get the troops back and we'll go on.

I must have missed it somewhere but was SJ injured and not goal kicking or is this a ploy to use Metcalfe?

Speaking of Metcalfe, still think he over runs the ball carrier a tad when on attack.

Finding the rule of players staying down and needing to go for HIA’s hard to follow at times. I can understand they are trying to stop players playing for penalties but in the case of Berry, why wasn’t the storm player penalised? To have blood coming from the nose means you’ve obviously been hit high and the replay showed it

Hope you are enjoying your second honeymoon Rick. ;) ;)

Ah…..the hangover of a loss that I had high hopes for. Not even a relatively decent sleep cured it.

The emotional investment in our team I have and I’m sure the rest of us do to is insane.

Want to let this one go and think of the positives, I gave us an A for the sheer fact that we put up a good fight and could’ve won with our major outs against our hoodoo team on their turf. We didn’t get smoked and upon reflection we did well overall but I just can’t stand losing to Melbourne……again.

Cohesion with our first choice players all playing together was the missing piece. Out of our control.

Ah well onto the Raiders next week, still plenty to look forward to.

I feel like CHT should’ve come on earlier, he looked cool as a cucumber when he hit the field and like he never left.

Just well constructed plays involving players with x factor i think. If your sticking to your structure and teams score outside those structures like that so be it, its when your not sticking to those structures youve got problems.

Quite right both those Paps tries were obviously planed, went wide, threw a couple of decoys to hold up the line (to which i thought both times we handled pretty well and were still sliding across) both times targetting our second rowers (Capewell and Ford defending inside our halves). In the end they we're just too slick with some nice hands (especially that 2nd one from Katoa), then if you've got x factor speed like Papenhuyzen does and the timings good.....then they'll break any defence down, dont think we did anything necessarily wrong.

The Coates one i think you need to look at what happened before they spread it (cant remember the play before hand) but Paps got on the outside of Barnett (thats a bad mismatch for us) and it ended up being a 4 on 3 which is why Rocco and Dallin we're holding.....i actually think they did really well there to recover (a few seasons back we wouldve had players jamming in all over the place and getting caught for numbers basically anytime a team spread the ball on us)......we recovered Dallin got to his man......just unfortunate he turned into the fucking olympic high jump champion.

Think we just take our medicine and tip our hat to some good and freakish plays from the opposition there.
yeah, have to agree - the two scoring plays were elite in that they gave themselves a chance with that last man against an excellently drilled defence - Dallin got there, which was another amazing thing about the try, he was only beaten in the leap

Death, taxes and Warriors losing to the Storm.

With 2mins to go and 8 up I still wasn’t feeling confident. We are not mentality able to beat a team like the storm yet. Hopefully it’s not far away.

Very proud of the effort though, they got alot closer than I expected.
Yup, didn’t lack for effort so I reckon it was mostly psychological with their subconscious caving in to “we’re playing Melbourne in Melbourne and we haven’t beaten them since 2015”

Get that out of their heads once and for all collectively and they won’t be afraid of Melbourne ever again nor any other team.

Was it just me or was Melbourne playing a bit of jungle ball last night? Not usual clinical Melbourne.

So close. Damn.

Question. Tohu and Berry (he is a deadset good footballer, very impressed with his progression) have to undergo HIA and I am positive both are from accidental head knocks, so why the fuck don't the Storm players have to undergo HIA protocols as well?

Yeah I thought it was quite weird. Tohu's one looked like there was high contact, he stayed down and they looked at it.
They then determined it was fine and no high contact, but 2 minutes he was off for a HIA.

So what was the call then? Contact around the head not good enough for a penalty, but good enough for a head assessment? Just seems inconsistent. I thought Rocco's one was strange tho, yes he got hit when he passed the ball but I didn't see anything that looked like he was rocked, or struggling.

Pleased for Taine. The hard yards are paying off. He's looking more dangerous on attack but remaining solid on D.

Centres were very good. RTS looks better each time I see him. When have we eever had two very good centres? Toopi/J Carlaw, Tate/Ropati. I think by season's end, Berry/RTS will be our pick.

I think Lussick is improving. Adding a few little things, moving forward a bit faster.

Metcalf has weaknesses in his passing game for sure. Our goalkicking is average if SJ isn't kicking. But the combo has so much potential in attack. We never looked out of it.

I thought the forwards were great. Really knuckled down in the second half and showed dominance. We rolled up field with ease. Considering no Niukore or Jaz, with Laban and Zyon Maiu’u in the wings, we have an engine.

DWZ was good. Busy, made an impact.
but for as good as DWZ is on attack he hasn't a clue in Defence WTF was he going for Berrys guy(berry great defender 1 on 1) then being slightly off angle he run at Coates late ....

Storm knew which edge attack ...
Screen Shot 2024-03-17 at 10.53.10 AM.png

no fucking way that try would have happened on the left edge.... Montoya would have smashed him into last week

this is not a tackle .... had DWZ actually gone for his opposite body on body not hand tap ..look how far back berry tackle ended up ... DWZ was a weakest link and will continue to be
