For reference we've conceded 10 tries in the middle third of the field which has us tied at the top of the competition with the Bulldogs. Wingers running around under the sticks skews this but it does show our D isn't only frail on the edges

To give some context, Reece has successfully completed 42 of 57 attempts.
Being the last line of defence, if we say all misses lead to tries, his misses have resulted in 15 tries. If he was an average NRL 80% fullback he would let in only 8 tries.
Those 7 extra ‘poor defender’ try’s are almost an extra try a game… more than his 5 try assists/ tries this year.

We have the tendency to make blokes like Blake Lawrie look like metre eaters against us which is a little bit worrying. Least with Ramsey at Fullback for them they'll be less threatening on attack

Agree but Ramsey loves playing us! If they can't get up for this then they are need a blue pill.

Must love their jacks- the whole backrow! bird, gosewieski, de belin...
Even in the front row they've got jack shit and jack off.

Our contact and wrestle seem to be poor , not lots of dominate tackles , leading to quick ptb , leading to no line speed leading to yardage for the opposition.
Need to work better with retreat speed into the line imo...
And having less mobile guys like Addin and Lodge means we sacrifice mobility on D for bigger runs etc.

It’s so bad in fact opposition players talk openly to the media pre-game about exploiting this weakness. Damien Cook said the Warriors can’t hold their middle third together… I had to laugh, no fucking shit!
Rugby Leagues a decidedly simple game, despite it often being made to sound very complex. It starts with the ruck and Bellamy has built a framework around his teams controlling every aspect of it and has been at the top tree for 20 years, our framework, and I’m being generous in assuming we even have one, is somewhere nearer the roots.
We might as well send them out with butterfly nets for all the tactical nous I’ve witnessed when it comes to this fundamental part of the game.

Good point when you have Addin Fonua-Blake and Lodge in the tackle, the retreat speed isnt as fast but they would add that extra weight in a dominant tackle, its a tricky one deciding what way you want to skin a cat.
I wonder if there is a stat that shows our best 3 defenders when making a tackle and slowing the ptb down? Would be nice to see which combos of 2 up the top and 1 down low make for the best at slowing the ptb down
