David James - COURAGE

David ,

I can verify you were sitting opposite Mick Watson this afternoon , although it was not a sandwich but an anzac cookie , and he wasnt joking with a mate , he was having a chat with his brother who lives abroad .

I can also confirm that you did ask him , a question , and he responded with good manners . I am not sure if you would have the nerve to "let him have IT" , but it makes for quite a nice story .

Also his home did not get passed in at $2.2 mill, because the media ambushed the auction , there was no bid , however it is on the market at $2.5 mill . If you want to make an offer ring baileys .

I guess David you could have made a comment , you know him but he does not know you . Or you could introduce yourself and ask him what was going on , maturity is a rare commodity among us sports fans, obviously you did not feel intimidated, well not by your portrayal ,
yet what a great post if you could give insight .

I dont believe he is rude to fans , I heard a story about one of your members e mailing him for the details on where he could purchase a jersey , and he sent them an actual playing jersey , what say you Mosh , was that you.

Perhaps you may have asked him , What is the salary cap? how is it policed ? Is there a cap manual or is the cap governed by dictatorship ?

Who decides how you breach ? how does Schubert run it , or are clubs bullied ? Are News limited clubs under , or are ther 2 laws.

He might tell you that did you realise that under nsw employment law that the Salary cap is not enforceable and it is recognised as a Restriction Of Trade .

Then again , he may something of low iq like Break a leg , what do you think my mad indigenious friend .

As a sports fan I have been intrigued over the years of reading this site , at how many times the members through thoughtful stimulating debates have come so close to what I believe to be the real story , disregarding a lazy and sometime victimising media .

As fans you will not always agree with what senior management decide , or how a coach selects , or if your favourite player leaves the club .

Maybe there will rumours , player behaviour problems , characters that you will hate , that you will love and some that you do not even remember.

You know what , that is what being part of a tribe , a pack , guide each other through debate , shit , it doesnt matter who is right and who is wrong, passion , passion , passion .

How many games did the Knights lose in a row last year, did they have a win before rd 13 , the point is there crowds grew year on year.

Love em hate em , whatever , I have been reading this site for years , you didnt mind the first 3 years of finals , the boys finally gave you a chance to put on the jersey and be proud , glory , respect.

Well you know what its time for you to have a go now , cause thats sport . so get on with it .

I doubt you will agree with most things I have said , by now most of you may have guessed my identity , tonight is my first time on a forum in my life , cant sleep , one of those things eh , I live in Auckland , I have 4 kids , my world is somewhat of a goldfish bowl , thats cool. However , be honest David , if you let me have it , do I look like my knees will weaken.

Perhaps a different approach may have fulfilled your quest for the truth.

Good luck to all of you I /we tried very hard to deliver , and for the record, most of the senior players are my most trusted friends.

A mis informed CRITIC .

Wow, simply don't know what to say ...

If this post is legit then I respect you for posting. I'll wait for others to post before further comments but really shocked but happy to hear it from a different perspective.

Well, all i have to say is that if you are actualy who you are implying you are (which is clearly a very big question mark) i ask one thing of you.

For the Mana of this club.....

Make yourself available to whoever needs you during this investigation, be open and honest about your dealings during your tenure at this club a lot of us hold dearly

As a result, if you are at fault and have actualy cheated then be a man, make yourself accountable and cop it.

One the other hand, if you do have a genuine passion for the club as you suggest you have and have acted honestly for the betterment of the club then stand up and fight for us one last time.

Cheers

p.s your grammar is pretty average for someone of your esteem.

Nice. :D

Well Mick,

I'd agree that you always showed passion. That is a good thing. I can't say that the potential disprepencies are an intentional breach as nothing is official yet. I hope they are not Mick. They are likely to be borderline, as the tumult would not be present if not so. I would also say that your hands were involved, your passion would have ensured this, and that you would not have offered what you were not authorised to - whomever that would be - or acted alone

You know what they say about the road to hell being paved with good intentions. Of course you had plenty, we all do. Doesn't stop errors in judgement though and those errors are bigger if you are in control of more. Being an atheist though I don't believe we are heading there and it'll take a bit more to stop the Warriors "faith" in a few around here than the current problem. By your initial success you did a good job to foster that faith. Congratulations on that. If we get stripped points I can't say I'll be as happy, but life happens like that and there are more important thiings in the world to get wound up about.

Good luck. Welcome to the site.

Misinformed critic.

Despite the fact of where I work I am always respectful to those in the spotlight.

They have many people harrassing them day and night, and do not need another one. Whenever I see a famous person I try to repect their privacy, hence why I made one comment and left Mick Watson alone. He does not need another fan talking about something he does not know the full facts about.

I do not know the full situation, am ignorant as to the full details and therefore not entitled to make full comment; this ignorance held me back from making misinformed emotionally charged comments.

We are all very frustrated at this point. And as the former figure head of the organisation it would be expected that Mick would be a prime candidate at which to vent this frustration.

As for the comment about joking on the phone, Mick may have seen that I was wearing headphones and listening to Salmonella Dub on my mp3 player, however I could hear laughter over the phone and Micks body language was very relaxed (hanging legs over the edge of the chair, something I have never seen another person do in the foyer). This naturally led me to believe that the conversation Mick was having would be with a friend.

I'm glad you held your tongue, David James, as tempting as it may have been to do otherwise. :)

As Mick would be able to tell there are others on this site that may have been as respectful as I.

Because I was frustrated I did take out the paper, more as an acknowledgement that yes I am a sports fan and know what is going on backing up the comment about the media. This is more to do with wanting to talk about it but respecting Micks space. I would have thought that at this point in time he would appreciate having his own space than having every Warriors fan asking him about the intricate details of the cap.

As for commenting on this site, we have no other medium to discuss this, and have no choice but to discuss things we know little about, because we are not well informed about what happens. This is the nrl's and the clubs choice. But we can not just sit in silence while something like this affects our club, we will discuss it, with or without full facts.

I in no way believe that you will be worried about any comments I would make or any individual on this site for that matter, you have been in a high end role and the public eye for too long to let it really get to you. Another reason that me interrupting your peace would be pointless.

Overall Misinformed CRITIC I respect the fact that you have responded on this forum, it certainly is a pleasent suprise.

I am not embarrassed if that was the intention, but I do feel that you have gained more respect from a lot of members of this forum for listing things from your side of the fence. It is this kind of transparency that the sporting public love.

As for my comment on the lawyers, the only non-lawyer I can think of accessed by using the other lifts is GoldmanSachs JBwere. Then again I do not venture up the other lifts often. (in a perfect world Mick would have been seeing a lawyer to make a statement about how the warriors can get off, but it seems it may be in regards to his property or otherwise).

And for your information I was about to get up to return to work just as you did, and I was going to thank you for the good work you did do at the Warriors, and hope that everyone concerned comes out alright at the end of this. However you left without me noticing (reading the paper). So I will now thank you for the good work you did do (rebuilding them, signing Price and Rubes etc), and I do hope that the Warriors come out of this alright.

As I am writing this a work colleague did question what I was typing about, I informed him of the situation and he summed it up like this:

It is said I lacked the courage to say how I felf, however I did have the respect to allow Mick peace. He did also say that Mick Watson had the
courage to ignore the salary cap, and lacked the respect to follow the rules.

Again those are from a work colleague who knows even less of the situation than I (not being a league fan). However I think this sums up the gut feeling of many.

But then again we do not know the full details (and if you believe the media at the moment, neither did the rest of the board that never met).

David James

PS: I hope you enjoyed your anzac biscuit - a reminder Aussies and Kiwi's can work together well.

There seems to be come confusion elsewhere on the board that I think this post was not by Mick.

If it wasn't Mick then he would have had to be spying on us pretty hard!

Look Mick, yes it was true you sent that Jersey. It is also true you sent PJ's Girl, a fan from Queensland a package with posters and other goodies when she emailed you about the Warriors - not even asking for anything in return. And yes it was true that you weren't rude to the fans and answered every email I sent you. But the fact is sometimes the media who dont like League much in this country are too demanding and get on the bad side of people when you decline interviews. In 2003 I remember you conducted almost an interview per month with Murray Deaker but in 2004 it seemed to decrease. Sometimes it is also best to ignore the media like TVNZ who really hated your guts and ran storys about you being a "snub" and refusing to talk to anyone from TVONE. Perhaps being more open and coming out in a public forum (like this one) or Radio Sport and assuring fans that you will be open to us no matter what - would have made things better.

There was also alot of players that have left like Ali and Vinnie. I know that as a franchise you see players come and go and money talks but Ali I reckon was our ticket "out" of the rutt we were in.

I think most fans of the Warriors do not believe you were evil, maybe smart and cunning and had a good nack of deliverying results under pressure and in a sense we all appreciated that in many ways. Getting Price and Wiki is a big deal and will lift the morale of the club in years to come, getting to the Grand Final is something I will never forget in my life till the day I die. I want it to be ingraved on my gravestone "We got to the promised land in 2002".

I just hope that "Mick Watson" delivers us from evil with this salary cap issue so we can move on to bigger and better things.

Nice comments Mosh.

I for one have nothing against Mick personally, I don't know him.

But in this time we are all confused and left in the dark.

We all want answers, and I was in the opportunity to try and obtain some.

But in a very silly English manner I was too polite and respectful to bother Mick more than I did.

We don't know what happened, we may not agree with some decisions made (but we can only see the surface), and all we know at the moment is that the salary cap problems started when Mick was in charge.

Who else are we to look to for answers, but the most public face of Warriors management for the last 5 years.

Thanks for the memories Mick, it's certainly been a wild ride.

Mick certainly was a prime candidate at which I vented my frustrations. Looking back now some of my comments may have been unwarranted but when it comes to the Warriors like most fans I think with my heart and not always my head.

I for one have alot more rescpect for the guy after reading his post and would be gald to see him post more on this forum. This however will not excuse him if the full facts do come and and we are scalded and he had a hand in it.

I do have to say thank you just like most fans should for helping pull the club out of what was a disastrous 2000. Those 3 years are my most memorable years as a Warriors fan so far and I am forever grateful for that.

I commend Mick for posting. It's nice to hear an informed opinion. In regards to mattyj's request, I saw in the Herald today that Mick is willing to work with the NRL and the Warriors to help sort out this huge mess, and I applaud him for it.

I just hope it works.

Mick you say you will answer any media questions if you have too? Answer this in your words why are the Warriors being investaged through the salary cap? did you or not pay the players too much, us fans want to know, don't just read this message and think "nah stuff it" we want a answer after you were the CEO 2001-2005.

To be honest I have never thought a hell alot of you, but that is probally because in my mind you got less credit to getting the warriors to the preimership than I gave old Ando. Whether that is right or wrong I am not sure, but i have never had experience with CEO's to a team but alot with coaches and i would be baised that way because I have had good coaches and bad ones too, there is a huge differnce which is why i have never been a big fan of Tony Kemp who in my opinion didn't appear to be a great coach.
However today I will hold you in higher regard in my mind because of you 'speaking out'.
Good luck for the future, Mick as of today you have my best wishes.

Is the implication here this is Mick Watson or Spiro Tsiros?

It's conveyed a lot in the second person, not I, but Mick. Interesting. First Sione, now Mick, next Stacey Jones? :)

well done for speaking out mick. respect where its due. 2002 was the greatest ever year for the warriors and you and DA had a lot to do with that. as others have posted, i sincerely hope that you assist the warriors and the nrl in their investigation.

cant be kemp, he wouldnt know how to turn a computer on if his leage coaching is anything to go by.

Mick I just wanna say I for one not gonna point th= trigger and say your the bad guy in this , other people who that are just judgemental cats, I will always remember you when you first arrived at the broken up club, making the the semi's, then going to the Grand Final, now that was the ultimate stage event for Warrior fans to see, and we are greatful for that, you increased the picture of Rugby League in New Zealand, and you deserve more credit for that, good on yea mick :)
