COVID-19 deaths​

Today we are sadly reporting the deaths of 18 people with COVID-19. The deaths being reported today include 10 people who have died over the past two days and eight people who has died since 28 April.

These deaths take the total number of publicly reported deaths with COVID-19 to 958 and the 7-day rolling average of reported deaths is 15.

Of the people whose deaths we are reporting today; two people were from Northland; four were from Auckland; three were from Waikato, one was was Lakes DHB, two were from MidCentral, two were from the Wellington region, one was form the West Coast, one was from Canterbury, one was from South Canterbury and one from Southern.

One person was in their 40s, one in their 60s, five in their 70s; five in their 80s and six were aged over 90.

Of these people, nine were women and nine were men.

This is a very sad time for whānau and friends and our thoughts and condolences are with them at this time.

Out of respect, we will be making no further comment.

I had covid symptoms starting Monday - sore throat essentially… did RATS Mon, Tues, Wed all negative… felt a mild fever coming on Wed night and suspected the bug… RATS Thursday morning finally confirmed it…..

Now, if I understood correctly, I’m supposed to quarantine or self isolate for 7 days from either when I tested positive or when my symptoms started. For me that would be Monday, when my sore throat started.

So even through I tested positive only on Thursday, I’m free to reintegrate back into the general population on Monday.

I do find it strange that I’m ok to leave the house so soon. My concern is that there’s undoubtedly people in society with covid who are still recovering. I wasn’t a fan of wearing masks, and being anti-social but my recent experience has me thinking twice now.

My symptoms have been mild, but experienced it all for short periods ie mild fever, headache, back pain, chest pain.. the most annoying thing is the scratchy sore throat and the odd splatter of cough.

This message is for all, Covid is a rappidly reoccurring disease for is all.

In otherwords when you get Rona do not fall into the trap of seeing it in isolation.

We need to treat Rona like all repeating diseases except this one scars the body each time.

So every bout we need to tread easy and minimize the accumulative effect of multi cell damage this thing will do in our life times.

To me the most obvious Long term manifestation is going to be dementia.

Premature early dementia.

If Rona brain damages then it's a very likely outcome that with multiple rounds, many of us could end up early in resthome care.

Hope not but yeah.

Latest reports say BA2 is milder than BA1. That is good news. But remember that says nothing about future trends.

Interestingly the double up hasn't killed on population sized scales worth being terrified of....but it does munt hospitals which obviously in a country our size will kill hundreds on the periphery of Rona.
Usual story, don't get sick from anything or injured.

Otherwise what seems to happen is by Flu season Rona has killed everyone who Flu would have taken out.

I was in the supermarket yesterday and I saw a dude and his missus without a mask. I am not normally the intrusive type but I asked him where his mask was. he got all embarrassed and left with his wife to get one.

I know Bill Gates was disgracefully involved with Epstein, but he is still a smart guy.

He is being interviewed about the coronavirus, long coronavirus, vaccinations and the viral medications.

A short out take:

Coronavirus is here for the medium term.
Vaccines are no full protection against infection, only the degree of illness.
Older people are more at risk e.g. he has just been infected after his 4th booster.
He has taken paxlovid which he credits for his quick recovery.

Seeing more and more people without masks in Tauranga. The majority of people now in some shops. Other shops everyone wears them. Seems a bit random. Lots of shops workers are also not wearing them now.

There seems to be a tipping point where you see a few not wearing them and then suddenly that sends a signal and most don’t wear them.

I’ve been to a few places and you take a mask in your pocket and see if anyone else is wearing one. Eg we had a school careers day for my kids and there would have been several hundred people mulling around the school hall and only a handful wore masks.
