RICHMOND Hotel and Miss Lizzies Cafe/Restaurant proprietor Carol Quilkey (with her husband John) is by now used to being recognised around Lismore as the leader of The Northern Star NRL Guest Tipping Competition.
In fact, said Carol, some had even taken to following her selections.
She currently leads The Northern Star competition, the results of which (along with detailed previews of the weekend NRL matches) are published each Friday.
She has 81 correct selections to her name as the competition moves into round 19 this weekend. However, the pressure is on, with Michael Shaw (Factory Direct Bedding) just one correct pick away, on 80.
Carol admits she started following rugby league through the raising of three sons ... "Bart used to play in the Under-18s and Nick is currently in the Under-14s (with Marist Brothers) ... while Jake plays guitar."
Her favourite team is Parramatta, but Carol says that once the Gold Coast Titans enter the league in 2007, she’ll sign-up as a regular supporter.
