Mates 13 next year perhaps?... seriously what happend to all the white boy league players that used to come from chch in big numbers and make the kiwi's? mark broadhhurst, brent tood, wanye wallace, ross taylor, phil bancroft, brent stuart...last cantab white boys i heard of in NRL were glen turner ( ex storm, raiders and NZ A rep) and corey lowrie (had a couple games for the warriors about 5 years ago). relying on the maori and pacific island communities alone to suppourt rugby league in Christchurch not a good idea combined they are only 10% of Christchurch population and if half of that number prefers rugby union to rugby league that a tiny amount of people

From what I heard Canterbury rugby league is a mess ATM, this has only come from local players but results speak for themselves in the national and secondary comp's this year.

Not sure where to post this but I managed to get down to the impressive new sports facility in ChCh called Nga Puna Wai where Canterbury Rugby League are now based.
In a Friday night under lights premier game, top of the table Linwood Keas took on local rivals Eastern Eagles in a high tempo game in front of about 200 supporters.
The fields are impressive resembling what would be best described as carpet.
Linwood ahead by 2 at half time took it out 28-16. Some good talent on display in an entertaining back and forth match.
It was great to catch the game at grassroots level.

Warriors reserve grade team officially opened that stadium with a game against the Bulls. Back when Nathan Cayless was coaching them. Love to get my hands on one of the bulls one off jerseys...

How can the warriors get down there and partner up with Canterbury league, Or is this already a thing?

Would love to know how far reaching the warriors are in New Zealand.

Speaking of Ch Ch, I believe the Papanui Tigers had a great Easter reunion. My cousins went and said it was so good to get back and catch up with old mates .

The Warriors need to get more out of that area.

The junior rep teams down there always give as good as they get against the Auckland teams but they’re always under-represented in Warriors junior teams.

They got pumped at home by the halswell reserves to celebrate….
Damn shame what’s happened to that club- can’t even field a prems side.
Got some good tiger friends- caught the plane back with Ali brown- didn’t go to the celebrations but heard it was a big one.
