From www.nzherald.co.nz:

Two Canterbury Bulls players have been banned from playing rugby league after testing positive for cannabis use.

Prop Vince Whare was banned two years for a second positive test in two years.

Blake Milner got two months after he was caught for cannabis use after the Bartercard Cup Grand Final.

Whare, 28, tested positive on August 20 after a Bartercard Cup match.

His other positive test was recorded at a Pacific Rim tournament on October 2004 and he was reprimanded and fined.

In its written decision, the Sports Disputes Tribunal accepted Whare used cannabis as "relief during some trying days in his life".

Counties-Manakau touch player William Morunga was also banned two years for a second positive cannabis test in July.

Another big name athlete to be caught for cannabis use was this year was basketball's Tall Black, Mark Dickel.

it seems that the tigers will no longer be playing at jade stadium so they will not be versing warriors in christchurch
more news on the tigers website

from the tigers website

"You will note that again we have a split of 6 games on a traditional basis and 6 on a commercial basis. The only change for 2007 being a move from playing the Warriors at Jade Stadium to playing the Melbourne Storm at the Central Coast Stadium – where we have previously enjoyed success and have a very strong supporter base."

Ok, so refresh my memory a little. Are we playing the Tigers twice this year or just once? If twice I'd assume one match in Aust and the other in Auckland...? I'm a bit confused now.

We are playing the West Tigers twice this year, one time in Auckland, and one time supposed to be in Christchurch but now looks as if it will be in Australia.

Seeing as we're the NEW ZEALAND warriors, i'm sure the club will look after all it's fans and move one game down here.

Lol, the debate that never dies, lol...the man who came up with that marketing idea must be extremely wealthy by now if he hadn't been beforehand! :D

I doubt that they will change the draw again now, but we'll just have to wait and see.

Man thats a real bummer, me my fiancee, my two mates and father inlaw all really enjoyed both of the recent league matches in Christchurch.
Now we'll have none god knows how long.....really disappointing because i had been aranging a crew of about 8 to travel to the next Tigers v Warriors game.

It might be worth firing an email in Wayne Scurrah's direction. He came back on board this week, and is open to the fans.

I don't know how the logisitics of that would work, or the profitability, but it's worth a shot.

Man thats gay. I hope there is 1 game in christchurch, its pretty much the only time south islanders get to see the warriors(apart from on tv) :) .

LMAO yep...that same old arguement's back. Though there is more reason for it this time around.

A team of Kiwis from National Rugby League clubs could be playing an international fixture at the new Christchurch Stadium in September.

The New Zealand Rugby League (NZRL) is keen to bring a "quality" game to Christchurch after being forced to take the 2011 Anzac test from the city after earthquake damage to AMI Stadium.

NZRL marketing and sponsorship manager Trina Tamati said they hope to play the game at Christchurch Stadium "on the weekend of September 14-15".

"We're hoping to introduce a new concept this year with a team very similar to the Australia Prime Minister's XIII. It will be comprised of top Kiwis in the NRL whose clubs have effectively dropped out of contention for the NRL grand final," Tamati said.

Some players from outside the top-eight clubs whose NRL seasons ended in late August or early September "effectively come into the October [international series] or the Kiwis camp having not played for six to eight weeks", she said.

Their match fitness was lagging behind those whose clubs were still in grand final contention.

"We thought it would be good to get game-time for those players by running a New Zealand XIII-type concept."

Tamati said the NZRL had yet to decide on a name for the team and no opponent been confirmed yet. "But it will be a good quality game, not a national domestic fixture.

"The plan, at this stage, is to bring the game south and it's certainly my preference to have it in Christchurch.

"Since we had to take the test away from Christchurch last year, we've been working really to get something back there but obviously, with the lack of facilities available up until now, there's never been an opportunity."

Tamati said the NZRL was working closely with Christchurch City Council personnel in a bid to make the game a reality.

"Hopefully, it will be a big sellout."

There is no Four Nations end-of-season international rugby league tournament this year. The International Rugby League Federation (RLIF) has decreed that the Four Nations will not be played in the year leading up to the Rugby League World Cup in the UK, Ireland and France in 2013.

But the Kiwis, who meet Australia in the first Anzac test at Auckland's Eden Park on April 20, will play the Kangaroos in the return fixture at a yet-to-be-decided Australian venue on October 14.

Meanwhile, the World Cup pool play and quarterfinals draw was released by the RLIF yesterday. The world champion Kiwis – top seed in group B – will play Samoa at Warrington, France at the Parc des Sports in Avignon and Papua New Guinea at Headingley, Leeds.

The tournament kicks off on October 26, 2013, with the final on November 30.

I was just about to post this, beat me to it:)

Write my name in in ink cause i'll be there!! Man i hope this goes ahead. It'll also give a good indication of the cities willingness for a team.

Do you reckon they could fill that stadium? I guess it would depend on what sort of calibre of player were available?
