Thought this was real cool at the U2 concert last night, Bono with his Warriors jacket. From Link has been hidden. Please Register to view. Rugby league doesn't find a place in any of U2's lyrics but the world's biggest band gave the Vodafone Warriors a centre stage appearance at the club's home ground on Friday night. In front of 46,000 fans at Mt Smart Stadium, Bono came onto the stage for the Irish band's opening Auckland concert showing off something a little different. He turned his back to the crowd to show what it was - sewn onto the back of his jacket was a Warriors flag. Its appearance had come about after a hunt by the concert promoter for something identified as being uniquely New Zealand with a Maori feel to it. A new 2007 Vodafone Warriors jersey was offered by football manager Don Mann when the promoter visited the club's offices at Mt Smart Stadium just hours before the concert. Also donated by Playbill's Ngaire Stent, who runs merchandise outlets at Mt Smart Stadium, was a Vodafone Warriors flag - and that was what caught the eye. It was quickly sewn onto the back of Bono's jacket, the image easy to see for the first 45 minutes or so of the concert before he took the jacket off. Here are some pictures of it: Media has been hidden. Please Register to view. Media has been hidden. Please Register to view. Good to see another Warriors fan joining the ranks.
