Wicketless and near wicketless days are starting to show up quite regularly in the last year or so.

Interesting hearing Atherton cursing the Kookaburra ball and wanting it thrown away for good!

Gotta feel sorry for Henry - finally gets a game and has to bowl on this. I wonder how many more opportunities he will get in test cricket?

What are the odds on Mitchell being a one test wonder?
I'd say Mitchell will find himself opening the batting in 2 weeks in Perth

The Kookaburra is a shit of a ball. When coupled with the Docile wickets in Australia and NZ these days it makes for some attritional cricket.

I say go back to the days when India toured in the early 2000s.

I don't think either side scored more than 250 the entire series!

I'm actually thinking that way too. Raval struggles to get more than 30 or 40. Mitchell looks technically sound. But possibly Nicholls would be more logical as he did alright in the ODIs. I wouldn't mind Mitchell at 5. However, Neesham would be a great 5 too IMO.

I'm pretty pumped up for this test series starting today! Unfortunately I hear that Boult has been has been ruled out.

They may even run with all four pacemen.

Just seen it is 36 degrees at 11am over there
Could be a good idea. Boult would be the best swinging that pink ball though. Probably a good idea to rest him until the boxing day test.

I lived over in Perth for a while and went to a test at the Waca when it was over 40 degrees. Is ridiculously hot!

Not overly hopeful, but just happy we get to watch NZ playing in Australia again. It has been a long time, and it will be the first time in a long time that they will respect us.

It will take a game to adjust to playing in Australia against their pace attack, I am picking we have a lean go with the bat unless a few stand up. Williamson, Taylor and Nicholls are probably the most equipped. I'd love to see Latham play a blinder against real pace, which has been a weakness over the last few years. It is the last piece of the puzzle for him, and if he can crack it, he will have a very memorable career.

2am finish is a bit tough...especially since the last session is where all the action happens

Lyon will be a handful in the 4th innings. NZ has struggled with him, he is very underrated on the world stage.

Please let us get Warner out early, he just irritates me for many reasons.
I was thinking bat first and win the match. The pitch will deteriorate on the last day. We have to get early wickets to have a chance.

Definitely would have preferred batting first, this heat will be no joke. Hope the boys can handle it and aren't too exhausted when it's our turn to bat.

The only positive thing about it is that it gives Ross Taylor more time to recover from his thumb injury before batting.

Yes, kiss of death on Smith.

The batsmen are getting themselves out.

Changed his middle name to Dylan.
He was a great TV pundit as well as bowler. Prostate cancer apparently

Looks like Ferguson is injured and won't bowl again. Along with Boult not playing it is going to be hard to get a result in our favour.

Hopefully we bat long and play out a draw. Go into the 2nd test at 0-0 and with Boult back.
