Losing Volkman is understandable. It has been mentioned in passing as a possibility since we signed CHT. Even some of the Aussie journalists were saying we might be have too many halves on our roster.

It has been cool having him on the books and seeing him develop. It would have been cool to have seen the plan all the way through and him come through to first grade. Looks like we may have to start that again with someone else.

It is also understandable with Volkman not being selected in a few instances. Some were understandable with Johnson available and Martin or Metcalf being available to replace the other. The coaching staff may have had some reservations.

As someone that would go to the NSW Cup games around Auckland it was cool watching him guide the side around the field.

At some point the gloves need to come off and he needs to be selected. He's 21 now and at an age a lot of players are in first grade or being selected instead of being though of as being developed for a few years from now. Add in that Johnson could go around again and the time starts to creep up. His career is only for so many years.

If there are more opportunities at the Dragons and he may have been one of the two that wanted to return to Australia. So it is understandable.

From a Warriors point of view McFadden and Webster have done well in one year turning the club around. Hopefully they use the roster spot well. Either promoting someone or bringing someone in and overall we are stronger and better balanced.

Tom Weaver anyone?

well there is an opening for the NSW cup now…
That's actually a perfect NSW cup signing. Gives the team someone quality to guide them round for a year or two before Luke Hanson is ready to move up to cup.
He's a kiwi. Won't cost anything. Knows he isnt coming to play first grade so won't be holding Hanson or anyone else back. I really like it
