Awen Guttenbeil will formally announce his signing for the Castleford Tigers tomorrow, and the Warriors will also wait until Monday before a final decision on whether to grant Clinton Toopi an immediate release to join Leeds.
The club had planned to announce last night that Toopi could go after the game with the Eels, but with Brent Webb suffering a flare up of a hip injury in the warm-up and a possible leg injury to Manu Vatuvei, they had changed their thinking, CEO Wayne Scurrah said.
They will now wait to assess Webb and Vatuvei before making a final decision on Toopi. Scurrah said he had fielded requests from both Leeds and the test centre for a release and had been looking favourably upon it with both Todd Byrne and Hame Lauaki due back after next week's bye from long-term injuries. He said Toopi would go on "good terms" if he went, but had been concerned a lack of senior football was harming his chances of Kiwi selection in the Tri-Nations.
Scurrah conceded Guttenbeil's departure was "imminent" but said the Warriors had actually made an offer to the second rower to stay on.
Guttenbeil said he wanted to delay a decision until after last night's game - but he has reached a concrete agreement with the Tigers.
