I mean it's not like Robinson is some genius business person either...
He was born into Autex so not a ground up success story...
He has taken Autex to the next level, after his father, David, build it.

The guy is a straight shooter who is extremely passionate. The Warriors are lucky to have him.

The reference about Stacey is no different to Wayne Bennett / Darius Boyd , Frank Endicott looking after his Canterbury boys boys etc. Loyalty is not a bad trait to have, it happens in business every day.

I don’t agree with all decisions made at the Warriors but I admire Robinson for keeping this club going - he is pouring money & resources into this club.

I think Rob Croot has a lot to do with not just the success of Autex but a lot of changes and hopefully the ongoing prospects of the club.

I'm guessing he's the voice of common sense and reason to Mohawk's passion.

I just think it's great to have an owner that cares about the club, still burned from the Watson era and the damage he did the shit head. I just hope Autex gets super flush with cash as I feel like this group will pump it into the warriors which I think does more for 'club culture' than anything else. Funds = success.

Would seem there‘s been plenty of open discourse between members of the Warriors hierarchy around POS the man and the timing of his leaving the club. CG was prickly about it further back in an interview as I recall, now Robbo who likely prides himself on being in the words of Browny “a knock around sort of bloke” has given another one of his unsanitized media interviews which again may or may not prove be damaging to the Warriors brand. I far as I can see his comments haven‘t been picked up on this side of the Tasman yet.

Would he do this with Autex? He clearly views the two organisations very differently. Like the Mohawk there’s almost an attitude of being perpetually stuck in the 80’s, how else to explain being so un-savvy around your comments to the media, if wasn’t for the negative headlines I’d probably find that an endearing quality of the bloke Tbh.

damaging to the Warriors brand.
But what is the warriors brand, and how would this damage it.

I know it as a supporter from day dot. Its always had recruitment troubles. Very few points in its history has it had anything approaching success. Celebrates players who have yet to achieve anything of note. Has had its share of scandals. etc etc.

As the owner, he sounds pretty pissed at POS. He's entitled to be. He was also pretty pissed with Shaun Johnson, but has just shown that he can get past himself if needed for the betterment of the club. Honestly i find him kind of refreshing. Maybe a git, but a refreshing one lets say.

Plus while people focus on him they might be distracted from thinking about new covid variants and how countries around the world are already reclosing borders and how this would affect the teams homecoming in 8 months. or it could just be any press is good press?

I like he is passionate but it was a flex with no real benefit. I just worry that it could be the difference between a really good coach or player coming to us in years to come because he is "a Git". I know if I was job hunting I would choose the job where the boss wasn't an Git.
At the end of the day it is what it is...and like the owner we just want the Warriors to be successful.

A git will be a git around the players and he will get a reputation, for better or worse even if he is perfect in front of the media.

You cannot hide what’s inside.

Some good points there. On the Warriors branding I echo what your saying, I’d only add that because of our perceived undesirability it’s all the more important the man at the top of the clubs hierarchy isn’t seen as a divisive individual. As somebody else mentioned if the boss can’t pass the dickhead test the place down the road may sound more appealing.

Don‘t get me wrong I’m in favour of Mark, Rob and what Autex are doing for the Club generally, you can’t knock the bloke for his passion and drive. Just wish he’d play it with a straighter bat when speaking with the media and realise he’s not chatting about the Warriors at the pub over a cold one with you or I.

Perhaps. But Rugby League is generally speaking a fairly small community. High profile staff recruitment targets would be put off by those comments. There is really no need to say that in public. It doesn't help us going towards the future at all.

Robinson made a comment suggesting POS didn't know or understand the club culture. What exactly is our culture? Are we really that different from any professional sporting club? Professional clubs are meant to be run in a professional way. Sorry, but there was nothing professional in what was said. Blunt? Perhaps. But professional clubs adhere to different standards. Cant see Melbourne ever saying that about a staff member who had left.
The Storm is full of cheats and druggies if you go on facts 🤣

Interesting comments from Mark Robertson re Peter O'Sullivan and the club in general

Rugby league: 'He didn't fit' - NZ Warriors owner Mark Robinson lifts lid on departure of recruitment manager Peter O'Sullivan

NZ Warriors owner Mark Robinson's passion for his club is clear to see, and his message to the club for next season is crystal clear too: turn up to win.

Speaking to Newshub, Robinson drives home his desire to keep improving the culture of the club, and lifts the lid on recruitment manager Peter O'Sullivan's recent departure, leaving for new side the Redcliffe Dolphins.

"I don't want to knock the guy, because that's not my style, but he didn't really fit our culture," Robinson tells Newshub.

"People were always a bit weary of him, but since he's moved on there's been another build in that area. Everyone's really starting to come close again.

"Now they realise probably what I saw is what they should have seen, but they didn't see it because I'm a bit more away from it, than there in it everyday."
Robinson, who owns Autex Industries, took over in 2019, and it's fair to say times haven't been the easiest since.
But his desire to see the club claim its maiden Premiership is unwavering.

"My investment isn't about making money, it's about winning a Grand Final for the New Zealand people."
The culture and personnel of those around him is paramount to Robinson - so much so, he was initially hesitant to see star halfback Shaun Johnson return to Mount Smart.

"Me and Shaun have had our differences, but I played golf with him one day and I asked him what he could bring to my club, because I never thought Shaun would ever be back at my club," Robinson explains
"I said 'tell me what you're going to bring', and he said 'I'm going to bring experience, not raw talent anymore, I'm going to bring experience to take the team around the paddock... I really want to finish on a high and win a grand final with the Warriors' and that was good enough for me."

That bullishness from Johnson is clearly appreciated. Robinson expects commitment and passion, coupled with the desire to improve, that matches his own.

"If you don't want to be here, go. But all I know is all the people at the club are better than they were two years ago... because they've learned a lot of stuff, going through what we've been through and what their families have."
Robinson, and the Warriors hierarchy, are demanding success next season, after ultimately falling short, for one reason or another, in 2021.

"We had the team last season to make the top 8 no doubt, but I don't think they knew how to win. I think they were a bit hung up in the situation they were in, everyone saying the Warriors this and that... without Warriors the NRL wouldn't be going on, and I think they bought into that a little bit," Robinson reflects.

"Not that they didn't try. But I just didn't think they realised they could have won those games."
'The games Robinson refers to are the numerous games they lost by six points or less.

"We've said to them you turn up to win this year. We've got a winning culture this year."
Rugby league's entrenched in his family history, and "Robbo" has certainly made his mark, no doubt saving the club during the dark times of Covid.

"Without a doubt without their support, we wouldn't be where we are today, both on and off the field. Mark has never once waived from his responsibilities," CEO Cameron George explains.
"He has been there through thick and thin in the past few years. I say this with respect to the other clubs, there is no other owner I would wish to stand beside me during this period than Mark Robinson."
The club's now entering a period they hope will be the start of a golden one.
This is actually typical from a club like the warriors, I mean kmon man!!! I don't want to knock the guy but I will anyway🤦‍♂️ he didn't really fit and now there is a new build and the playing group no longer have to look over thier shoulders anymore because Stacy will keep them accountable, GIVE ME A FUCKEN BREAK.

Robinson seems like a bit of a dick tbh. Way too outspoken and needs to stay in his lane, which would not include bagging our ex recruitment manager. What would Shaun Johnson bring to my club reeks of a bit of arrogance, it is completely obvious what Shaun Johnson was gonna bring.

Quite frankly, none of us are used to having a hands on owner in amongst it.

In the last 17 or so years. Watson spent more time in the UK making money and getting in trouble, so he left the club to other people to run, similar to a business tax write off.

So whether it's a good thing or bad thing, for once the club now has a no nonsense owner, whos not afraid to publicly state what he wants and how he sees it, tactfully or not.

So I think we all better get used to it...

"I don't want to knock the guy"
"With all due respect"
"The cheque is in the mail"
"Of course I'll still love you in the morning"

Nice ways of telling someone they're/saying someone's a xxxx.

I'm okay with Robinson "mouthing off" in public, although it does come across as kind of petty. The concern will kick in when he's slagging off selection choices or similiar coaching/recruitment decisions in public rather than/before doing so in private.

The guy is a showboat, but he has built a thriving business...and he HAS saved the club from the wanker Watson.
