Internationals Are Guttenbeil, Koopu, and Moi Moi available?

If would baffle me as to how any of them could be overlooked for the tri nations. I get a sneaking suspicion that they were overlooked. Please tell me otherwise. Also, are J.Smith (Parra), Stosic, Solomona, Ali, and Iafeta available?

J Smith apparently injured and there has been silence about Moi Moi. Heard a whisper that he has decided to play for tonga.

Koopu, Guttenbeil and Stosic werent picked

Yeah, I thought Guttenbeil would at least make the train-on squad after his good form this year and his Tri-Nations success last year but it was not to be.

Koopu has not yet been selected under McClennan's tenure as coach so far but he did look worn out at times this season, so maybe he just needs some time out from the game.

Not sure about Moi Moi, Smith and Stosic but I read an article that Bluey said that because the Tri-Nations was being held down here he was only going to pick a few players from the English Super League to come down. Iafeta does not deserve a spot but hopefully Ali and Solomona are selected.

What an epic blunder. Bluey is a dead set idiot. Guttenbeil would have been locked in to my forward pack. I cannot believe that he has been left out altogether. His game, particularly toward the end of the season, was not all that dissimilar to the way Kennedy plays. He made a bag load of tackles and was still propelling himself at the opposition in attack. I am floored by this decision.

Moi Moi wants to play for Tonga? If that?s the case, I don?t think he was given a choice in the matter. He is probably seen as somewhat of a liability. Bad move. Anyway, isn?t Tonga an emerging state? That would still make him eligible for the big three (NZ, Aus or GB).

I noticed that Bluey was not too big on Koopu. Honestly, he is one of the only players in world that convincingly covers both backrow and centre. He deserved to cover the ?Menzies position? off the bench. I?m still stunned; I don?t know what more to say.

Guttenbeil - Youd pick him ahead of Kidwell, Puletua, Solomona, Ali, Pritchard, Blair, Fa'alogo to name but a few?

Koopu - Have you actualy watched this guy play in 06? He looked burnt out and was not the Koopu of old. And once again youd pick him ahead of the players mentioned above ?

Guttenbeil against the Sharks - 24 hit-ups for 226 metres, 49 tackles.
That's just an example of the great form he has been in all season, one of his best years in the Warriors jersey since he began. Not to mention his good form when picked for the Kiwis in the Tri-Nations last year. In terms of current form/ability I would definitely rate him above Fa'alogo and Blair and possibly a couple of the other players mentioned.

Yes, I'd partner him with Kidwell and Solomona in my backrow. Puletua, Pritchard and Faalogo would miss out on my 17 but would make the squad (Puletua should consider himself very fortunate). Blair would miss out on the squad even though I rate him a hot prospect for the future. Ali wouldn't get a look in.

Guttenbeil had a fair few 20/20 (tackles/hitups) games this year and it was all punctuated by a scintillating game in round 22 (if memory serves me correctly) against the Sharks, he managed to accumulate something like 50 tackles, 25 hitups and ran near 200 metres whilst playing for 80 minutes in the backrow (edit- the above poster beat me to the punch). That is a mammoth game for any player. There was also a game late in the season against the Roosters where he made 5 or 6 offloads so he is capable of mixing it up a bit.

Koopu probably needs to make more hitups (he has made less than 10 in many games this season) but he offers some much needed versatility off the bench and could start to add much needed versatility in our pack (size does not matter and we probably need a more durable pack to outdo Australia's bigs anyway). I also believe that he is a very passionate individual and would not let anyone down.

Frank Pritchard will be in the 17.

Awen not good enough for the 25 Tri-nations squad.

And Bluey said he was picking for the Future when selecting for the "A" team. Awen is not the future.

Ali will be very lucky to make the 25 tri-nations.

A very average year for Leeds.

We definately need at least one tackling machine in our side. Somebody who will pull off 40 tackles.

It's all well and good picking 6 guys who can carry the ball well and put in a few big hits but we have seen what Kangaroo teams do to sides that don't put them on the deck.

And that's put 50 points on you.

Guttenbiel is in the team so that Stacey Jones has his best friend around to keep him company. They are great mates, and their comaraderie will rub off on the side. McClennan is a cunning coach. He wants a happy Jones playing well, and a happy side, thus he picked Guttenbiel to be in the squad. Plus Guttenbiel is an old dude, & McClennan figures he needs to blend in some age, what with all the youth in the team.
