This has been hands down the worst build up to a Kiwis vs Kangaroos Test Match I can remember. The NZ media seem only to be interested in the fallout from The horror week that was for the Warriors while the Aussie media are single minded in their interest regarding the Eels salary cap saga. Sky are struggling to even retain the rights I mean C'mon!
We have yet to hear an interview from any players in the Kiwis camp as far as I'm aware and the questions for the Kangaroo players are related to Semi Radradra and how he's coping with the verdict handed down my the Nrl's integrity unit. pfft ...who gives a fuck!
The focus of sports journalism much like mainstream journalism in the common era has such a bias towards negative news stories, like as fans that's all we want to read about.
Yes admittedly the Kiwis team has lost several key players from their side which has taken some of the gloss off but FFS it's still a bloody Test Match and were 2 days out, start writing some articles and conduct some interviews ya bums!
Rant over.
Picking up on your rant the international game is a joke to Australia because it seems they have a monopoly on the game.
Winfield cup then NRL has appeared to be better than the ESL but the hysteria over State of Origin is misplaced.
It is a great format (state against state. Mate etc.)
But whoever started the "Origin is the pinnacle" bullshit did a great job at keeping control of the game in Australia.
But the Kiwis have developed positively over recent seasons to beat the roos well now.
So if Australia are willingto pull their heads out of their proverbials, the International game can not just improve but grow and reach more countries.
