General Any old school adventure game fans here?

Kickstarter is the world's biggest crowd funding site for creative projects. Basically a designer, prioducer, author or band may have a project that they wish to persue but may not be able to find traditional funding. So they start a kickstarter campaign they nominate how much they need to raise and then they offer people different rewards based on the amount the person is willing to pledge. The pledges only happen if the kickstarter reaches its nominated goal. It is great for creative projects that are in a niche market where traditional funding may be hard. It is really worth looking round the site as their are some really interesting projects.
Also just confirming I have no links to the above kickstarter, am just a nerdy adventure game fan.

I'm so glad you mentioned Monkey Island. Whenever it rained in England as a boy, and it rained a lot, I would jump on my Dads computer and play Monkey Island 1 and 2. They're probably my favourite games ever, so much so in fact that I have many an online username making reference to the game. A shame it's so hard to get todays gamers playing a game with such old school graphics

Unfortunately I don't really care for most games and I'm broke so can't help with the project.

Lucas arts actually released an updated version of monkey island 1 and 2 early last year. Same game with updated graphics. You should at play the demo of the above project, it is free and actually contains a fair amount of game play.

So do people put up their own projects in an attemp for funding?

Yep, that's how it works, but you have to be US-based to launch your own project.

PledgeMe is the New Zealand equivalent.

Jb have you seen the VGA remake iof quest for glory 2? Check out agdinteractive.com for that plus free remakes of kings quest 1 -3. They are an amazing fan group who gained a non commercial license to remake some old Sierra games. A group who met rhere formed infamous-adventures.com and they have remade kings quest 3 and space quest 2, the above kick starter is there first commercial project

I vaguely recall one. QFG2 was the one set in the desert, right? It had a pretty simple protection system - a city that's an absolute maze to get around unless you have the map that comes with the manual!

I never really played King's, Police, or Space Quest - but I thrashed QFG. I clocked the original heaps of times, (and attacking the bandit stronghold was gerat fun), but because the maze in QFG2 was so confusing, I only dabbled a bit in QFG3 and QFG4.

My favourite point-and-click was The Lure Of The Temptress.

Yip qfg2 was the one set in the desert. I personally think number 2 was the best in the series, number 1 was really good as well if you enjoyed the original then I would really suggest downloading the free remake of 2, it blows my mind that someone would remake such a complex game for no financial benefi and while the VGA graphics that they remade it in is mid 90s technology it is still very well presented

Awesome, thanks mate. Any idea where I can find the remake?

Did you ever play Lure Of The Temptress? I played it on an Amiga so I'm not sure if it was ported or not. It was one of the very few games to genuinely cause tension for me - there are two moments in particular that spring to mind.

Another one that I came across years after it was released was Beneath A Steel Sky. BASS was awesome, both as a game and as an instrument, lol.

Aah ok, I'm thinking about doing my own game when I'm finished.. Might have to launch me own project on one of those sites if it ends up being a bit pricey...

When you're finished what, mate? Are you at Media Design School or something similar?
