Our teams have been sluggish, frequently fatigued, low reaction time and below conditioning standard the last few years… and we’ve had a LOT of injuries. I think it’s all been related.

The fitter teams seem to get less injuries overall (although not always)

You always have injuries and some are just plain freak accidents, but being conditioned properly, with the faster reaction time and less fatigue, it will be interesting if we also get less injuries 🤔
Yeah the injury thing is unavoidable with such a huge season, you're spot on with player's conditioning fitness we actually do look a bit fitter this year.

Was almost SK Bethells beach fit. But then the players chosen are nearly all 80min players. But the defense on the line was better than our general play defense, that is good to see.

I dunno, woulld be nice if someone close to the action ie training could give us an idea of what Webby is aiming for and how hard does he press during the week. Im hoping he does all his hyping players up the last couple of speechs prior to kick off. But would be awesome if the fans of this new era, which we have to acknowledge t is a huge change to the club, if we could have some kind of video insight into the transformation. It was super cool when the warrios were doing those weekly videos givin us some insight.

9 weeks and we should be capable of beating top 4 sides, or not. Roosters is first one and early, dont expect a win but do expect us to stay in the game for 80 mins, for me that is a win that builds up to whatever Webby is trying to do with them.

I wrote a long post comparing Webster to other Warriors coaches then deleted it.
What I was trying to say can be summed up simply.

Past Warriors coaches were either attack based (Anderson) or defence based (Cleary Kearney).

Webster is the first to look capable of delivering on both.

To put it crudely, Webster has the tacklbots Cleary had, but he has the guys in his forwards that can shift the defence with passing (Andersons men used second phase, where Websters pass, but the net result of shifting the defence around is the same).

As a long time study of the Warriors I want to know how he did it in one offseason.

From the outside it does seem as though he understood he had a lot of apex tacklers, and among them were some of the best passing forwards in RL (none better than Tohu Harris).

But I would love to know how he analysed the Warriors then delivered on it, including the player buy in, part of it is that he was here before and knows the place...that insight has saved him years of rebuild shit.

I said it in another thread but does brownie get any kudos for recruitment of the squad or anything?
I mean 1 preseason and we aren't far off....
Morgan also appears to be doing a stellar job with the forwards.
Pompey and Siro kicking on....

Lots to love
Definitely a lot of the guys were already signed before Brown was sacked and Webster was signed.

I think he has mentioned in an interview when he was debating the offer and talking with Cleary that he thought he liked the squad and they had recruited well.

Also fits with how he has acted so far. No excuses. Most other coaches would of rolled out the not my squad need 3 years to get my players line when taking on a side that came 15th the previous season.

I hate to say it, but Webster is in the Bennett KISS mould, keep it simple stupid.

Daniel Anderson concentrated on skills, and turning up to training on time, his teams already had the flair.
Ivan Cleary worked on overall discipline

In the early days our forwards were always hard hitters in defence, but couldn't last a game as a team. The word from other sides was to just out last them and wait for them to tire.
I remember one game at Marathon Stadium when even Paul Harragon, one of the toughest in the game, walked off at half time cross eyed he was so smashed.

Webster has worked on building confidence in defence, and from what I can see technique in tackling.

Just delightful, come on next Sunday!!!

We are hitting hard and it seems to be across all 3 grades we’re involved in. Thought some of the cowboys looked a bit shocked at the physicality of the Warriors at times. I think Mt Smart is going to be a place teams don’t like going to again.

The smart way to do it.

Sounds like the Tigers are doing the opposite. Work on their attack because 2005.
Yeah have to agree although yesterday they showed they got it in them.

I think 2 things happened in off season. Webster built trust of his players with him first and foremost and 2 got the niggles sorted / conditioned them better.

The reason for our win I believe is built of effort and consolidated through coaching nous. No Commentator has made reference to his substitutions of lack of them in times of need. He seems to be able to read a game deliver what's needed.

Need to sign him up for 10 years now. It's not luck this improvement ... with culture, attitude, technique, tactics, fitness, and happiness. He is a new age coach who is innovative and a great man manager from what I've seen and heard. I coach football - I would love to shadow Webster for a week and learn.

100% we need to lock him down 5 years minimum.
I'd be looking to lock down most players like Shaun Johnson for at least 1 or 2 seasons.
We need to keep the spine together.
The sqyads got mad potential.
I'm definitely convinced Webbys the goods.

I'm also keen to know what role Cappy has played.

With a pretty average squad he had us playing some reasonably good footy at times.

Also worth applauding the retention of Justin Morgan. Clearly he offers something of value with the middles
