Just wondering who people think should be our nomination for next year and who the experience would benefit the most. My pick would be Shaun Johnson. Rubbing shoulders with the likes of Cam Smith and potentially being coached by Wayne Bennett may be the tonic for a big start to the year for him and you'd have to agree if he has a strong start to next season the team probably will too.

Yeah why can't Ben play? I mean I'm happy for him not to, especially if returning from injury. But he's been our best player this year, he'd thoroughly deserve a place in that team. Stuff Shaun Johnson, and I can't see them wanting a halves pairing of Marshall and Shaun Johnson anyway.
I just think Johnson would benefit from being in the environment, it would let him see other 'stars' and the way they approach and prepare for a big game... hoepfully some would rub off on him and he would wise up a bit.
Unless Hurrell makes some huge improvements on his defense, then chances are he will embarrass himself and the club as much as Manu's 3 errors from his first 3 touches did in the last all-stars game.

Agreed. Big NO to Hurrell. At present he's a very raw rampaging Tongan, with some glaring defensive deficiencies, and only has roughly 1.5 seasons of league experience under his belt. Not in the NRL All Star category.

No to Johnson, as said earlier he needs a reality check, not a pat on the back.
No to Konrad, cos he will no doubt injure himself before our season kicks off.
No to Locke (no chance with Slater and Barba in contention), he needs the longest possible off-season to recuperate.
I think Friend deserves it, but has no chance.
Big Ben is a possible.
Feleti, I think is probably our best option.
If Carlos stays in for the rest of the season and plays like he did last week, I would consider him a real option.
I kinda feel like it would be good for Manu (if he promised to catch the ball and not make any mistakes) as his career is just starting to move into wind-down phase. He will spend more time sidelined and injured, and will be passed over for young blood in the next season or two. He has been a legend for us and will go down in history as one of the greats, so deserves recognition at every chance. But there is too much likelihood of some fumbles, so I would have to put him in the "No" pile.

On form Matulino is the only choice. No doubt all of the Aussie gimps will just remember Johnson's flick pass from 2011 and pick him though.
Personally I'm voting Tupou with a view towards him either doing something stupid and getting suspended, or miraculously learning how to defend from one of the backs in the All Stars team. Even if he doesn't learn jack, it'll be great comedy at least.
