With Vete having a NRL contract for next year, is it worth giving him so game time in the Vulcans to see how he performs against more seasoned players?

I think if and when we are mathematically out of contention for the Top 8, Matt Elliot will start exposing some more Vulcans to the First Grade squad... and when this happens, Under 20s may well get called into NSW Cup.

Under that scenario, I wonder if we'll see the "drop Friend, Tommy Gun to hooker, Locke to 6" theory unfold. While waiting for Tomkins to arrive, Fish could hold fullback and Low Mappy take right wing.

Yeah, if we are going to miss the 8 I would prefer it happen sooner rather than later so we can experiment with a team like: (for example)

1 Fish
2 Laumape
3 Hurrell
4 Nielsen
5 Vatuvei
6 Locke
7 Johnson
8 Package
9 Leuluai
10 Rapira
11 Mateo
12 Lowrie
13 Mannering

14 Lousi / Peyroux / Palavi rotating
15 Matagi / Gubb / Ikahihifo rotating
16 Lillyman
18 Matulino

I'm a Abraham Papalii fan, he is an absolute beast. Started last week and he took his oppurtunity with boths hands. Apparently he was a centre up until 2 seasons ago, and he is probably 6'5, 110kg! I hope he plays out the rest of the year with the juniors and the Warriors keep him for next year. I think he might almost be 20.

189cm / 114kg and yeah just turned 20 a couple of days ago. I missed his NYC game the other day but he chewed out 141m in 13 carries.

Yes definitely involve the Vulcans sooner rather than later for players with NRL contracts. It doesn't mean throwing them in there and leaving them for the rest of the season, if they start to struggle or pick up niggles then they can always drop back down. And it'd really only be 2 or 3 that'd be in that category as is. Carlos Tuimavave should be the poster boy for players left languishing in the U20 comp for far too long, and subsequently struggle with the massive step up to first grade.

Vete would be a safer bet to make the transition from Vulcans to FG; Papalii has all the physical features we need for our forward pack but the kid is still adjusting to league and the heavy contact that's invovled; He has soft run up's TBH our boys banged him twice in a club game didn't recover to well, reason why he was dropped from 20's this year a few times I heard - but definitely would develop him. We've had Vete turned out for us last year in topside club games and he was a bit green to local footy, but this year I've seen a different kid playing (he hugged a few of us at raining ,he's packed on muscle ,dam thick body), worried how he ices up his knees lately on the bench. Good attitude on Vete he still comes to club training now an then but shows up to all our games an after functions, with other 20's kids.

Mateo in two places?

My only criticism of Vete last year was a good running forward who has nothing left in the tank on D.

That's only based on a handful of games. But I suspect his career will be defined by his ability to up his tackling rate.....Like so many other U20's products....great runners......

He is smart , articulate, rounded in his interests , and an important role model in the league community. He's a bit short in stature , but that means nothing when you are as wide as the proverbial barn door.

Fitness could see him make a big impact in the NRL. Fortunately for Albert , Elliot has the younguns playing NSW cup.

Just needs to tone up hard. He is far too big and carrying more weight then his motor can take. He is still a good season away from NRL level but he will get there...
