well North America currently has small domestic leagues in Canada & USA not to mention Jamaica & Mexico just recently granted observer status By RLIF with a small comp starting up, The Souths vs leeds game in Jacksonville Florida drew 12,000 a few years back, Ohana Cup in Hawaii this year drew couple thousand for Samoa & Tonga game, Canada international games in Toronto have drawn 7,000 crowds plus Toronto side entering UK Championship 2 next season recently signed Fuifui Moimoi!

As far as i can tell from reading other sites about this the promoter was granted USA 2025 World cup subject to meeting strict conditions regarding sponsorship/funding of tournament & improving local comp in USA. This is being promoted by an Ozzie guy who brought 2 Major league baseball games to Oz. Will be run with the backing of USARL and CRFL. Thousands of expats from countries in world cup in USA/Canada & not to mention Millions of descendants with ancestry from the countries that will be in world cup to market the game to... add in tourists for the event & locals sports fans that good marketing & promotion can attract to attend... we may have tournament on our hands.... Still lot of work to be done but i think the glass is half full...

I can't imagine it being a fuck up to be honest

Why don't they schedule a final as a curtain raiser to Super Bowl?..They have done dumber things and their share of the gate would be really good.:D

I think that the football World Cup over there was the highest attended ever, without the average yank even knowing it was going on!

Why not, any crazy idea will work for the IRFL
Nearly as crazy as your idea of having the Kiwis play in New Zealand.

It will be interesting to see the venues the promoter is proposing to use. You would expect some game being scheduled in America between now and then could help.

Why on earth would the NFL want to promote another sport lol? Dreams are free I suppose...

It's been suggested the mls stadiums will be used. Very much a league feel to them 25,000 seaters and close to the pitch. Moore sports international brought MLB to Aussie so he has genuine american connections

They won't. It was just another example of a crazy idea.
to get a look at the next hayne, holmes & taumalolo. Some NFL sides maybe considering niche Arena Football Rugby League Comp as a side business in off season/additional recruitment pathway but hey thats a long shot blind folded chance of happening but a World Cup is happening In USA in 2025 provided the bid meets criteria...

The USA and Canada are likely to have several teams competing in the Super League by then - its such a large population that a sport only needs a niche foothold to be viable.

hope that before 2025 North America has its own pro league they cant keep putting teams in a semi amateur UK division 3 as soon as they have at least 6 sides they need to form own competition.

First USA/Canada, then France. Qatar anybody?

‘The tournament was expected to be the biggest in history, played across 40 venues with men’s, women’s, wheelchair and youth events running alongside one another.’

Is the event getting to big and costly to run? Especially given league is a fringe sport worldwide where the men’s comp has to many minnows, let alone running loss making woman’s, wheelchair and youth events?

Same issue with the Olympics, etc where they becomes overdone and try to be everything for everyone instead of doing smaller well.
