General 2023 Warriors Stats

Thought I would start a stats thread.
There are some posters in here who are great with their stats and pull some really interesting ones out.
I’m not that clever but I’ve got some basic ones to get us started.
It’s not often we get guys mentioned in the top 5 but we’ve got off to a good start so far..

A5BEBC2B 4D67 41FC 9B64 944E273E52A840FB1410 831D 4551 B5DD 3AEBFB1209FA
Montoya 2nd for runs and 3rd for runs meters- time to re-sign…

This suggests to me that Shaun Johnson is giving Te Maire Martin space and he’s making the most of it.
And they’re only gonna get better…

Shaun Johnson topping the kick stats- not necessarily a great thing but shows his value to the team- he’s carrying that burden single handed.

Tohu Harris Harris- enough said.

This is probably my favorite- two in the top three- these guys don’t stop and it’s all for the team- they make everyone else look good.

And even better- some team ones…

5th for run meters is a massive turnaround.

We haven’t really been dominating possession- so we must just be using the ball a lot when do have it.

In the past this stat would’ve meant we had been getting flogged.

D06366B9 CF10 4E71 BF5F 5D07BB46B1A6

Have we been pushing it too far? Or just getting the rough end of the pineapple? Truths probably somewhere in between.

The decoy runs imo is the most pleasing. For so long we have been so one dimensional with a lack of bodies in motion.

Where are we for Offloads?
8th for off loads but we are playing a lot before the line.
Interestingly the tigers and eels are first equal for off loads- same teams are also first and second for errors and neither side has won a game yet…
Throwing a ball out your ass with three guys hanging off u is out- selective passing before the line is in.

Awesome thread to start and bloody hell, scrolling through those stats is unreal - both individuals and the Teams stats are confirming what a monumental shift has occurred, we have our Team back folks.

Yeah, love this stat. This reinforces what Webby talks about with putting shape around our playmakers and the ball carrier. No coincidence our line breaks are up off the back of it.

Taine Tuaupiki 92 kick return metres is world class 😍 Let me say again World Class!!!!!!!! The best Can't do that! Million dollar Fullbacks cant do that! Do you understand what I'm saying Latrell 39 metres, Walsh did 45 metres, Tedesco does 56 metres, Do you understand we have the best in the game and he cant even get a spot in our team! I still don't think you understand what we have, Think Superman playing for us!

Jesus calm down guy

Yeah I noticed receipts and decoy runs are an interesting stat. It’s probably saying we spread the ball the most of any club and I think Webster has turned our forwards into ball players. If you see are sets once we reach an attacking part of the field we really start to shift the ball a lot both sides. Really big difference from previous years attack.

Great stats.

One thing I will point out is we seem to be playing fast games in that the ball is in play a lot, with less stoppage time and both teams each week with high completions.

This comes through in us doing second most tackles and second most receipts - our games are being played at a frenetic pace and have a lot of sets played by both sides.

If we’re effectively ‘playing more minutes’ in a game with the ball in play, then a lot of these aggregate type stats are getting boosted.

I don’t know how it happening but a slower game with less tackles is preferable. Less chance of injuries; less accumulated fatigue across the season.

Anyway, the stats are pointing to our team competing very well individually and as a group 💪

Pretty sure the numbers aren't right for the warriors. Good article apart from that though.

They have the Warriors making 11 trips. I've got it as 13-14 (unless we stay in Aus for 2 consecutive rounds at some point).

R1 Wellington
R2 Sydney
R3 Townsville
R5 Sydney
R6 Newcastle
R8 Melbourne
R10 Brisbane (magic round)
R11 Sydney
R13 Napier (I'm not sure if they'll fly or bus for this one, hence 13 or 14 trips)
R15 Canberra
R17 Wollongong
R19 Parramatta
R23 Gold Coast
R27 Brisbane

Yep they said 11 times across the Tasman and then used that number like we can just drive down the road to Napier and Wellington.

Then maybe they have Brisbane as a home game so included didn’t include that to be 1 more out.

Crazy draw with just single weeks at home until round 20 when we get a run of 7 weeks with only 1 away game. Surely we could have spread those out so we’re not cutting back the training because we’re buggered like at the moment.

I'm also not sure if we'd fly from Sydney to Canberra or bus, which is another decent "trip". Hell, even the Tigers game in Hamilton isn't a short bus trip...
