I’d be keen to get Mikolaj Oledski and potentially Ligi Sao to strengthen our middle.

Still got 2 spots to fill by early March I think? Think we’ve got 26, and need 28 by then by releasing Otukolo and one of the Kepu twins. Bunty and Tom Ale were already in the squad for this year, but been extended to 2025?Well thats good Bunty and Tom are in... those 2 fellas must of stamped their mark on Webby's preseason so far. The next cap deadline is about the middle of the year I think. So we'll see what happens then..
Yep my bad... just checked the squad and your right still need 2 more to make 28 .... only thing I can see now is promoting within the club... the cupboards are looking bare out in recruitment land
Just from what I’ve seen in recent articles I think we might see 1 more. Wouldn’t say I disagree with you either though.Yep my bad... just checked the squad and your right still need 2 more to make 28 .... only thing I can see now is promoting within the club... the cupboards are looking bare out in recruitment land
Yeah the only one of note I would credit with having a decent nudge and giving his all would be D.Betts.Luke Thompson would be a decent pick up if the moneys right. With Barnett/Niukore in the squad it might be a bit redundant as they’re all in that same 102-106kg ball park, and play pretty similar games through the middle.
But it would free up Niukore for an edge role.
Oledzki from the Superleague is a bit bigger and goes hard as well if we’re talking Pommies.
Not that our history with English imports is great.
Not the slug. Jamayne Tounua-Brown no thanks.Yeah the only one of note I would credit with having a decent nudge and giving his all would be D.Betts.
I appreciated the effort to think outside the box and recruit from SL
A few more have come down this season. Knights, Tigers and Roosters Last year grabbed a few. We just need the right one. And currently we are rebuilding out backs are super young. With limited experience.
I would be looking a effort players and chase them. If anything you're buying work ethic. Similar to cotter.
Flegler won't come to Nz.
So I would be aiming for Fringe with the goods
Royce Hunt

Kayal Iro

Wiremu Grieg (as a big body has good foot speed, unsure of the size of his motor)
Josh King

Jazz said Ale has really impressed him preseason. Has been a standout at training. Fingers crossed, cause we need a prop, but he seems more like a busy Cotter kind than a Klemmer.I’m looking forward to seeing Ale staying fit and playing first grade this year.
Not sure if this is news or not, but saw these three are currently in the senior squad training.
Solomon Vasuvulagi (prop?), Eiden Ackland (half?) and Kalani Going (2nd row/centre)

Really thin in the front row if injuries arise though. The club have said they’re keen on bringing a middle forward in but won’t be rushed into recruiting the wrong type of player. My guess is they’ve identified a player or two that will be down the pecking order at their club. Would be happy to see the two spots to be filled by the first deadline to be props and go into the season with two open spots to see a position in need of upgrade or lacking in with injuries, or even somebody who could get squeezed out their clubs etc. With our bigger second row I don't think we need another big alpha prop, as we already have Addin Fonua-Blake for that.
I dunno, the more I think about it the more I'm thinking we might be okay (injuries permitting) at prop. IF - and it's a big if - Bunty continues to make 100m off the bench and Tom Ale continues what he was showing off the bench late last year (ave over 100m in 31min for last 3 games), I think we'll be okay even if that last prop role is filled by Ford/Jazz or 20 min of Tohu Harris/Niukore/Barnett well be sweet.
Maybe give a couple of games to the rookies this year too, so that next year were not blooding 2 of them from scratch.
2017 was the final year of NYC. More likely NQL just never picked him up in the first grade squad. So no demotion, just no promotion either.Solomon Vasuvulagi

Think this guy has a good shot of taking one of the remaining 4 spots. Props can take some time sometimes, 2018 was a demotion to Townsville colts but becoming a try scoring machine suggests he was too good to be there.

Can't hurt to have a look. A 105kg Frontrower who averages approximately 40 mins of Q Cup isn't probably who we're after though.![]()
Indigenous All Stars rookie hoping to land NRL contract
The 24 year-old has been selected despite being yet to make his first-grade debut.www.zerotackle.com
Might be someone to keep an eye on in the indigenous team at the all stars match.
Not sure of the weight Vasuvulagi plays at and haven’t seen him play but with himself playing in the Auckland comp, there’s probably not a lot between the pair as a candidate to fill a spot being of similar ages. Should be playing against a fairly handy Maori pack so if he makes the bench should definitely be worth a look. Can't hurt to have a look. On a side note, ZeroTackle is getting worse. Look below & compare their statement about his time at Redcliffe in Reserve grade vs the reality 🤦♂️ View attachment 50620 View attachment 50621
Was signed to the NQ Cowboys on a development contract. Spent most his time playing for Blacktown where he lined up with Sione Lousi...2017 was the final year of NYC. More likely NQL just never picked him up in the first grade squad. So no demotion, just no promotion either.
