Why the hell would we let him go? lol. We're trying to find middles not rent the ones we have out.Surely not with our lack of prop depth.

Would give me interest in Newcastle games I guess. He is likely not going to play NRL here. If the club feel he is ready for that then a one-year loan to the Knights — if he is going to get games there — is potentially a good experience that will benefit us long-term.

How far away from first grade are you in the new concussion rules era though? Presumably Curran comes in this week and then Sifakula is 18th man. After that we have no fit forwards left in the squad so would be leaning on the development players100% it’s all upside for us if he isn’t going to play 1st grade here this year.
Zyon gets say 8-10 games worth of first grade reps in, gets to make rookie mistakes away from the often career killing impatience of Warriors fans.
Then we get him back next year with the new toy smell.
Seb Kris is over ratedWell while we are throwing names around, Mohawk eluded to the cap space next year being much better.
My top 5 hit list

J Manu
S Kris
M Fotuaika
B H Uele
One of these would do just fine.

That was allowed during Covid times but I don’t think that sort of salary cap flexibility exists anymore. If he was to be released from his Warriors contract for this season he would have to sign a top 30 contract for the rest of the season at a certain rate with a rival clubSurely you could put a condition on him signing for Newcastle similar to other teams did when lending us players. I remember Hetherington being recalled back to the Panthers I think?
I too think Zyon should be locked into the top 30. Yes he's got a lot to work on defensively but he should be doing in cup and getting reps with our squad not someone else's.Why would we loan Zion? I thought we were all over rushing players into 1st grade. If we are back on that wagon he may as well be rushed in by us rather than a shit team like the knights and Adam O. They could ruin our new toy before we got to play with it.
I think it'd be awesome for him to get experience this year. That being said, what would the warriors get out of that loan agreement? There would need to be some additional benefit.I guess it comes down to do we think playing top grade 8-12 times this year and being around the first grade squad will have a positive impact on his overall career?
I say yes. Imo he potentially could start to get frustrated this year and next only playing NSW cup, whereas we have the ability to allow him to get 8-12 games this year, then we give him a handful next year before he gets a good crack at making the team long term in 2025. He'd be nearly 20 games in to his NRL career which can only be a good thing, right?

Also, how many injuries or suspensions do we think he is away from debuting in our first grade side at prop? He might debut with us before too long. We're definitely short in the middle.
Do Newcastle have no props in their system?Yeah it all depends - if there's a good chance he debuts for us this year then I wouldn't want to see him go. The upside for us is that one of our future stars is being given a go in first grade to gain experience and become a better player faster, similar to the 'loan' agreement Broncs had with us and RW![]()

Do Newcastle have no props in their system?
Yeah I don't know if I buy this. In the Lachie Miller trade they gave away their most promising prop to the Sharks who have the most prop depth of any team. Surely they would've given away a player in a different position if they were this close to having no props.
I'm all for players going out on loan and getting experience, but the reality is Zyon is close to getting a first grade run A) because he's killing it reserve grade and B) (more importantly) our own prop depth is thin. I'd rather he just develop in our NSW cup team and then promote him to top 30 mid season. Saves us inevitably overpaying for a prop at the transfer deadline.
