So who are our current props? Addin Fonua-Blake, Lodge, Pene and Afoa

We’re yet to hear about Frei and Ale (who is injured for half a year).

That’s looking pretty thin on the ground now, currently with Lodge out for rd 1, we’d be looking at Frei as our 4th prop, someone who’s not currently signed and only has 1 games experience…

Our surplus of backrowers probably means someone like Tohu Harris or Ben Murdoch-Masila are going to spend more time in the middle. Katoa also spent time there in the back end of the year.

remember gus said we signing a forward so hopefully one or a couple more

He did well in 2020 when most of our middles were injured. Really regressed this year so 2022 was going to be case of trying to get more out of him. Can understand the clubs position of not rushing to extend him past 2022.

We are seeing a change in how the club goes about things. Previously if you were here already it was likely you would be re-signed and we'd get maybe 1-2 players coming in. They seem to be a bit more reserved it extending guys and wanting to wait to see assess their form.

Hopefully we see a few signings announced soon.

Considering we have nobody of any consequence off contract in 2022 I think POS is looking at 2023 as the year.
My main concern with this is after making the finals in 2018 they were talking about having the squad they want and pushing for bigger things in 2020. After 2019 fell apart I Think I then heard 2021 was going to be the year.

Think 2022 was then meant to be the year the squad is where POS wants it.

The mid year signings last year of Walsh, Lodge and Dallin Watene-Zelezniak have helped. We have Johnson and Pene coming in so 2022. Hopefully a few more.

Hopefully with the rumours of us going after a few players from November 1st for 2023 its a case of 2022 big improvement make the finals and 2023 contend for a premiership.

FYI the lyrics in this song were clearly written about POS. Dude gets what he needs when he needs it, then cuts the deadwood and moves on to the next. What a pro.

Most interesting part of that article..

Despite losing Taunoa-Brown, the Vodafone Warriors have a strong core of middle forwards in Tohu Harris, Addin Fonua-Blake, Matt Lodge, Ben Murdoch-Masila, Bunty Afoa, and Aaron Pene plus rookies Tom Ale and Jackson Frei while Bayley Sironen and Josh Curran are also options at loose forward.

Ben Murdoch-Masila is seen as a middle forward..
And we have Frei and Ale in the squad..
And Jazz isn’t mentioned as a loose forward..

Easy mistake to make as I often refer to him as a little forward.

The statement about the middle forwards is to show they have depth when releasing someone, probably helps with the casual audience who might be worried with them losing a player.

Glad to see Ale is still in the mix as his status was unknown. Hopefully he can just concentrate on his rehab. Frei I haven't seen much of besides those few first grade appearances.

The others listed as options isn't a surprise as we have seen it, can also throw Katoa into the list.

The other guys will likely see more time in the middle if they insist on playing Aitken as a second rower. I'm still mixed on that yes he was good filling in but would prefer to keep him as a centre who fits in when needed.

Thank god for that, now do Kodi.

5 spots left in the top 30 now.

I think POS is clearing the decks for major moves for 2023 season (e.g. Manu, Nuikore, etc). Maybe he’s going to front load some of the current contracts to get more cap space.

As far as 2022 goes, I don’t think there will be too many moves. Probably promote from within for those spots and keep one or two open in case anything pops up mid season.

Interesting about Frei. I thought for sure he would be gone. His stats in Redcliffe this year weren’t anything great. But POS is a huge fan. Signed him straight to Top 30 out of Roosters 20’s. Apparently he’s one of the hardest trainers and often players don’t come right from ACL until their second season fully recovered. He also has the height that POS covets. Not at all unhappy about choosing to go with the cheaper and harder working Frei over guys like Evans and Jamayne Tounua-Brown.

I would be happy for murchie to move into the front Row stocks and take Ale, really think Frei is a waste of roster space when we have robati. Would get a kepu twin in the 30 asap. Also see kosi picking up a top 30 spot? Not that I think that's right but now Fusitua is gone🤷‍♂️
