God grant me the serenity to accept the things I can't change.
Courage to change the things I can.
And leave me with my current inability to tell the difference...

The Sports Fans Prayer.

Does anyone know how big of a footprint Autex has in Australia? Eg would you get a bloke like Steve Price who always wanted to get into the business sector coming to Auckland in their prime, doing an MBA, and then taking up a position with Autex in Oz? I'm looking for any sliver of hope

Never heard of Autex in Aus until news about them getting involved with Warriors. How big are they really anyway in NZ? Saw less than 2k Likes on their fb account, only 1 glassdoor employee review on their company etc. Saw they have 334 employees and revenue of around 70m as per zoominfo. So pretty small in overall scheme of things. Still wish them all the best.

Besides Price was appointed the GM of Football at the Bulldogs a couple of months ago. For whatever reason, we didn't really utilise him post football.

‘Autex Industries also has a strong business footprint both here and across the Tasman, with operations in Melbourne, Sydney, Perth and Brisbane. The business also has sales and distribution across North America, the United Kingdom, and South East Asia.’

I used to subcontract to one of Autex’s competitors and their reputation is strong within the industry but they have a low public profile and their front end ‘brands’ are better known than the actual manufacturer. I understood from a recent article their revenue is now 100m+. May not be directly comparable but I believe their competitor aimed for a 16% profit margin.

From working with the competition, foam (and other insulation products) is a big bulky products that is basically full of air so it is very cheap for its size. It is basically some chemicals you mix that expands to about 20 x the liquid chemical input. This means it is uneconomical to import the end product - you import the base chemical in bulk and then manufacturing around the world is done locally. There is little outside competition once a huge local investment is outlayed to establish in an area. Autex does their job well but would need to have manufacturing plants in every area they expand to hence manufacturing plants in all the capital cities in Australia. They do some specialised stuff they can distribute around the world but this would be a very small part of their operation.

Also he has shown he does not know how to build 'talented teams'. He made Chris Sandow one of the highest paid halfbacks in the game, before the Eels spent the next 3 years trying to get rid of his contract. Sounds similar?
This my fear.
To attract a good coach .We would be more attractive with a
Bunch of players off contract an a bit of spare cap .
It would be any coaches wet dream .

Just for the record I dont believe Kearney is the right coach for this club! But if those players dont want to listen to what the headmaster is saying then why dont lisone and Luke run the footy team?

Everybody's job is at stake here!!!! Not just the players, but it's always the players that get the free ride and yet here they are crying about how they were spoken to?

I'm sorry but this job is not like any other ordinary job, you pull your fucken head in and dig in for your fans that turn up every weekend! THIS IS A PRIVILEGE THAT YOU ONLY GET FOR A SHORT TIME SO MAKE THE MOST OF IT, AND GO OUT THERE AND FUCKEN RIP IN!!!
Lisone does rip in .He gets a hard time on here
But he goes hundies .Has a fast play the ball .
Just has a brain free minute every now an then .
To be fair I think he's handled the demotion from FG regular
To reserves admirably .He's stuck in there .I hope he comes good
I would be happy for him.

Down here they are saying Smith has played 1 year to many and the team followed his lead with a lack of intensity. Now hes talking retirement and Bellamy wasn't aware of it and is pissed. So this last season is being put on Smith not Bellamy.
Sorry but was there some alternative competition played in 2019 where the Storm didn’t win the minor premiership in a canter and where Smith didn’t get runner up in the Dally M and take out Dally M captain of the year?

I'll admit hes probably played his best this season since his first season, but its contract time and over the last 3 or 4 seasons hes played ok in 1 of them. I dont think that's worth a renewal, to risky dont you think?

Haha yeah I was thinking of it being a way to attract a guy in their prime by saying we can educate and mentor you, then place you in a Sydney or Melbourne office post league days with a nice career. But as you say it may be the wrong target audience

Yeah but he didn’t win the brownlow so no one in Melbourne cares.

Ha, they are a specialist in Acoustic Insulation. Hardly something people will like and follow on social media. They are the go too product for commercial insulation generally. They also do alot of joinery products, such as Autex Cube which is used in schools everywhere and is bloody expensive. Basically a colourful acoustic pin board.

Price was handled pretty bad by the club in his final year (Scurrah and co I'm pretty sure), so they both parted ways happily.

We were told November was when some updates would be coming out, which seems like a long time. I think they'll have to hold Kearney for another year, basically for PR. If we miss the 8 by a decent margin again, I think he'll get the boot. How he was given a 3 year extension after 1 acceptable season is beyond me. Hope it had some conditions in it at least around team performance. His first season was a 3/10, second was a 6/10 and this season was a 4/10 IMO. AKA not good enough. How he has 3 years left in his deal, I have no idea.

no im just talking about what people are saying to me. Was his talk of retirement no surprise to you? It was to me and everyone I knew, up till then he had indicated that he would be playing 100% with the storm 2020. Bellamy certainly didnt know about his thoughts. And again only the discussions i have been a part of with storm fans.

There's a reason the only recruitment rumours for any club at the moment are about who's being shopped to superleague. Nothing major will happen until Nov 1, because that's the date clubs can officially can start talking to players who are under contract for next year and players like Matterson can get out early.

Yeah, everyone needs to relax on the recruitment front until then. The only players we're allowed to talk to "officially" are ones who have been given permission from their clubs.

Feel free to start panicking in mid November when no signings are in the news though 😂😂.

Said it from the start

We're going to target the best young relatively unproven talent after Nov 1, offer them big overs and then try to get them an early release on the grounds of "why would their current club develop them for a year".

I doubt it will work, that's just what we're going to try to do.

I guess what I’m questioning is the idea that Smith slackened off this year - personally I thought he had a much better season than in 2018. Also the main thing I’ve heard about him potentially not playing in 2020 is that he’s sick of all the criticism levelled at him around wrestling techniques, etc.
