2019 Warriors STATS Thread

We have the second equal biggest pack in the comp this season - with the boys fizzing at training so far that should be an advantage right?

Really? I always though the big pack theory was a myth

As long as they have the aerobic ability to go and go and go etc.
Lateral movement and defence are very important.
The roosters for example have the lightest pack and won the comp.
The storm have a heavy pack and dominate a lot too.

Or you can have several relative 'lightweights' for nimbleness, and a monster wrecking ball for impact..

Green at the cowboys talks of the value of the variety of body sizes and types...

A heavy wrecking ball, followed by an extra tall player, followed by a fast lighter forward, etc. This forces the defenders to constantly adapt their tackling style.

Positive signs we are up their in size, as a good big man beats a good little man and all that. But they are a pack and it’s all about the sum of the parts.

The Cowboys pipped us for no1 spot at a combined 887kg due mostly to their wrecking ball’s ‘gigantic thighs’

True and going the other way Canberra made a regular habit of loosing games from winning positions their monster pack running out of puff (though Ricky would deny this and still blame the ref lol). Interesting they have let go two of them in Boyd and Paulo and now have one of the lightest packs this year - so balance is the key

It’s a bit silly, just shows that teams are basically all the same size, within 3 kegs of each other average, and if the 94 kg Jazz Tevaga plays more minutes than the 114 kg Chris Satae that would change things.

And don’t really matter if the Sharks fielded a team of midgets around the 118 kg Andrew Fifita (who looks a damn site bigger than that) if he’s playing huge minutes.

But I do look forward to the return of "big warriors forwards getting tired". It’s like a mantra from childhood, hasn’t felt right not hearing it.

That's very good point.

That's because he has chicken legs :chicken: (I've waited a long time to use that emoji:))
