And the Roosters game will most likely be at the SCG. Most of their games are waiting on the AFL draw to be finalised because of Allianz being knocked down.
I will give that a miss then. My eyesight isn't up to it.:(

4 hours won't even get you to Adelaide, Perth is 7 1/2 haha

Gutted we won't be seeing the boys over here next year, but sure there will be other teams we can go see like usual anyway.

I'm hoping the Warriors will be in Townsville the following year (2020) when the new Stadium is built... but pity the fans in Perth will miss out this year!

That run home looks dangerous, tense last month if we're playing for a finals spot

Yea the last game against Canberra looks ominous... but hopefully will already have cemented a finals spot.
For Qld residents/fans... All teams playing in Brisbane in Round 9 in May looks Awesome with the Warriors playing the Dragons on the Saturday. As well as playing Brisbane Round 17 at Suncorp.
Warriors play Souths on the Sunshine Coast in Round 5 and play the Titans on Friday night in Round 14 on the Coast!

I like to lay everything out in a spreadsheet so it's easier to see how many days there are between matches, runs of home/away games and how the SOO games play a part.

Things I noticed after I did it :

The season is kicking off a week later than 2018 which is a bit odd considering the gap between the Maori vs Indigenous and Round 1 will be a month.
We play the Sea Eagles twice in NZ in 2019, usually when teams do a deal to play a game in NZ it means they only have to play us once. That'll teach them for taking us to Perth.
We are playing the Storm at home on the Saturday after SOO 1 (Wednesday in Brisbane).
We are playing the Panthers at home on the Saturday after SOO 2 (Sunday in Perth).
We are playing the Knights away before SOO 3 (Ponga missing).
We are playing the Broncos away on the Saturday after SOO 3 (Wednesday in Sydney).

The toughest run of games I see fall in July where we play the Knights in Newcastle, then the Broncos in Brisbane, then the Sharks in Wellington and finally the Eels in Parramatta.

Wouldn't surprise me if the club stayed over in Australia for the Rounds 9/10 and Rounds 22/23 where we have close back to back games.

Other thing that caught my eye in the press release was the mention of the Warriors getting so many Friday night games and that contributing to a 30% increase in viewers in NZ for the year. Would be interesting to know how long Sky's rights are for and whether they play ball with paying more at the next negotiation. Could we see a model like Australia where a Free to Air broadcaster bids alongside Sky for say the Warriors and one other NRL game per week? Imagine the combined viewership if that happened.

Green is Mt Smart
Blue is elsewhere in NZ
Orange is Away

From what I heard they go backwards from the Grand Final date which I believe they try to sync up with labour day long weekend in NSW.

A couple of questions for those in the know.

How likely is the Roosters game to be at the SCG?
WTF do the Warriors go to Wellington if it is such a shite stadium for spectators?

Stoked about the draw, I recently moved back to the Sunny Coast which means I’ll get to watch them live 3 or 4 times next season between here and the Goldie, beats getting my league fix by watching the Capra goat rooters playing QCup at Browne Park in Rockhampton, FMD.

Not likely. As I have heard from someone close to club that Roosters want to play NZ Warriors at North Sydney Oval next year all because and again I shit you not, that we play in North Sydney Bears colours. Saves them having to make special one off jersey for occasion. That and I have no idea dude why we are playing games in Wellington but it probably all has to do money. I know for fact that when Bulldogs used to play home games in Wellington against NZ Warriors in early 2000s, NZ Warriors were promised $1 for every ticket sold. By about fourth or fifth time they took a game there, that $1 they were promised by Bulldogs ended up being 50 cents and ended up costing club money as they spent alot more than that just on self promotion alone and was reason why, apart from trial matches, club refused to take games away from home for so long ... :sorry:

Gotta share the SCG with the swans so I guess it depends on their draw.

Wellington is fine to watch sport, not sure where the hate comes from

I’m not sure NSO is up to hosting an NRL game, it’s pretty run down since the bears moved out 20odd years ago, capacity wouldn’t be much and you can pretty much watch from the street for free

Cons:
It is not a rectangular ground. The night life is on Manners/Courtenay at the other end of town. They couldn't even fill the ground for the All Blacks v South Africa this year. Want to know anymore?

I don't hate Wellington, I lived there once, but it is mainly good for quality restaurants and bars and being relatively easy to get around on foot. Also the Basin Reserve is great to watch test cricket.

Oh and I forgot the accommodation isn't that flash either. When I realised I could still get tickets for the All Blacks I decided to go, until I could not find ANY accommodation outside a badly rated curry smelling flea pit in Porirua.

I would easily go to Christchurch but have work commitments that weekend.

I'd prefer they go to Dunedin due to the new stadium. It is the right shape, the roof means the weather is only really a factor getting to and from the venue. The crowd last time was talked about as being disappointing so may have played a part in some of the decision making.

Wellington has had decent crowds previously which I assume may have played a part. Wellington has usually been the option for moving home games.

It would be good to get more sides bringing home games over here to limit the sides travel. They usually talk a good game about building a tradition of playing in <insert NZ city>. A year or two later it turns into that's too much travel going to NZ twice.

After making the top 8 we are probably better crowd pullers now so they probably would prefer staying at home.
