Man crazy how fast he got surgery, I had to wait about 6 weeks after the injury before my op. Was actually my first date with my now wife, man what a romantic. "Can you take me to the hospital and wait a couple of hours with me after surgery?"
Goes to show how important Shaun Johnson is. Most players wait for the ACC confirmation to clear. Can take months. No such delays for SJ...

INJURY UPDATE | Johnson's surgery
Sun 26th July, 02:53PM
Capture121.PNG

Vodafone Warriors halfback Shaun Johnson faces a recovery period of four to five months following surgery this morning after breaking his left ankle in last night’s NRL clash against Manly at Mount Smart Stadium.

The 24-year-old suffered the injury when his leg was jammed under the weight of Manly defender Tom Symonds as he was scoring a try just before halftime.

Scans established he had fractured his fibula and suffered ligament damage. He has had a plate inserted as well as two syndesmotic screws.

“It’s a huge disappointment for Shaun and for everyone involved with the club,” said Vodafone Warriors head coach Andrew McFadden.

“He faces a long recovery but he’ll have the best medical care available.”

McFadden said it was projected Johnson would be able to return to full training late in the year.

Second rower Bodene Thompson left the field with an ankle problem midway through the second half. The full extent of his injury is still to be assessed.

Meanwhile, back rower Ryan Hoffman is set to return from a calf injury for next Saturday’s home game against Cronulla while centre Konrad Hurrell will be available after serving a one-game suspension.

Hopefully get to cross off a couple players this week. The addition of Shaun Johnson brings the total of players out for the season to five.

Was told that Toafofoa Sipley's ACL tear was the worst one the doctors had ever seen. Basically everything had torn.

Please can we get through the rest of the season uninjured...

It's amazing some of the advancements in modern medicine these days...

What do you reckon the doctor used? Makita or Hatichi...

INJURY REPORT | Vatuvei unlikely

Wing Manu Vatuvei is an unlikely starter for the Vodafone Warriors’ 23rd-round NRL encounter with Penrith at Pepper Stadium on Saturday (7.30pm kick-off local time; 9.30pm NZT).

The 29-year-old was forced off the field with more shoulder trouble 60 minutes into Saturday night’s clash against St George Illawarra at Westpac Stadium in Wellington.

Vatuvei was sidelined with an injury to his right shoulder after the June 27 match against the Canberra Raiders. Following the team’s second bye he missed the next three games against the Melbourne Storm, the Sydney Roosters and the Manly Sea Eagles before returning against the Cronulla Sharks on August 8 only to re-injure the shoulder on Saturday night.

The full extent of the injury is still being assessed but Vatuvei is rated a doubtful starter this weekend.

He joins Ryan Hoffman (calf), Bodene Thompson (ankle) and David Fusitua (knee) who are all still sidelined.

Manu Vatuvei was taken off the list in the same game he was added back on. We finally have a timeline for Bodene Thompson and David Fusitua. Both have been scheduled for Round 23-24. Ryan Hoffman has been pushed out again to the same time period from an original assessment of Round 21.

Things just get bleaker and bleaker for this season :(...

Manu always has to be different. Can't he see that leg injuries are in vogue at the Warriors this year, so what does he do? He goes and does his shoulder.

So does this mean Konnie will be back or will the Fish get another go?
