Yeah, I hope SKY show 90% of our triple features. I love the midday starts and getting the atmosphere going before you get in the car and arrive at the game.
A bit different for me. Since I can't get near Auckland for the games, I developed a bit of a ritual for the triple headers.
I would start with the Vulcans. I would sit in the spa pool in the conservatory with the TV screaming and have a couple of quiets, only getting out at half time to de-prune and make room for the next beer.
The Juniors would come next. I would lie on the couch in the beaming sun (yes, we do get sun in Invercargill, it just gets blocked out sometimes by the odd raincloud) in the conservatory and have a few more slightly louder drinks. (The only time the conservatory is a problem is during the occassional rain storm. It can get pretty noisy with rain pelting down on a clearlite roof, then its back inside and take possession of the family TV.)
For the main event, I would take my first grade position close to the TV with my current latest team jersey on (will have to be the signed 2013 Wellington jersey this year) and have some really loud brewskis, and hurl some inappropriate language at TV.
I would far rather go to the games, but you have to make do, as best as you can.
For the Nines, I am planning to fire up the 120 inch projector in the functional-but-still-a-work-in-progress 20 seat movie theatre, with a few mates, and some beers. I will have the conservatory TV on for the less commited spectators, and wives, so they know when not to disturb the viewing. They will have to be ready for the drinks breaks, as there will be limited time for the inevitable toilet dash and run to the fridge. I'm trying to come up with some interesting games or pools to go along with the non-Warriors games to give a bit of incentive. I don't think drinking games will be a great idea, as I may not succeed in seeing all of the games. Any suggestions from anyone would be great.
Next year, the Nines excursion is already booked. We have accomodation, just have to sort travel. It will be my first visit to Auckland.
