Jersey Information

The NZ Warriors x Dynasty x Lewi Brown 2025 ‘Dear Warrior’ Jersey honours the journey of players, staff, and fans to the club.

Inspired by a 1994 welcome letter to Lewi Brown, the design features an embossed chest detail that mimics the letter, along with vertical stripes along the lower sides of the jersey that lead toward the famous Warriors emblem - celebrating the diverse journeys that bring all Warriors affiliates to the club.

The colour scheme of the Jersey is inspired by Lewi’s ancestral homeland of the Chatham Islands and the story of the famous black robin, a species of bird which fought back from the brink of extinction with only 5 left living in 1980. This spirit of perseverance and resilience is something core to the Warriors identity and all who wear the jersey.

Lewis Brown-inspired 'Dear Warrior' jersey on sale

The One New Zealand Warriors have today unveiled their 2025 ‘Dear Warrior’ jersey – a bold, deeply personal creation designed by former Warrior Lewis Brown in collaboration with Dynasty Sport.

To be worn in the club’s upcoming round 12 clash against the Canberra Raiders, the jersey is more than just a playing kit – it’s a tribute to the paths taken by players, staff, members and fans who find their way to the Warriors whānau.

Brown, who made 84 appearances for the club between 2009 and 2012, was invited back in 2024 to lead the design of a special edition jersey.

Now working in the fashion industry, Brown jumped at the opportunity – a first-of-its-kind collaboration in world sport.

“When the club approached me last year to be a part of this project, I’m not going to lie, it felt surreal and still does a little bit,” he said.

“To be given the creative licence by both the club and Dynasty Sport to express myself and my journey through this garment, it’s a dream come true.”

At the heart of the design is a gel-gripper feature across the chest, mimicking the look and feel of a letter, a nod to the original welcome letter Brown received when he became an inaugural Warriors member in 1994.

“Dear Warrior isn’t just about me and my journey,” he explained.

“It’s about how everyone’s journey to this club is different – and that’s players, staff, members and fans.”

Along the sides of the jersey, vertical stripes rise up toward the iconic Warriors emblem, representing the diverse and winding paths that connect people to the club.

The jersey’s colour palette is inspired by Brown’s ancestral homeland – the remote Chatham Islands – and the incredible story of the black robin.

Once nearly extinct, with just five birds remaining in 1980, the black robin has since made a remarkable recovery. That same spirit of resilience, survival, and belief is deeply woven into the Warriors’ DNA, he said.

Finished with ‘Dear Warrior’ lettering on the back neck and a ribbed jacquard collar and cuffs, the jersey is a powerful combination of storytelling, heritage and high-performance design – all brought to life by Dynasty Sport.

“This is certainly a first – not only in this part of the world, but I’d argue in world sport,” Brown said.

“I can’t think of another organisation who has had a former player, currently working in the fashion industry, come back to design a playing strip.

“I’m super proud of the Warriors and Dynasty for having the guts to go down this path – and I just hope I’ve repaid that faith.

“Everyone’s path is different and I’m so grateful I was able to express that in this jersey. I hope the fans love it – and most importantly, I hope the boys do, because at the end of the day, they’re the ones who have to play in it.”

The ‘Dear Warrior’ jersey will be worn in the next home game against the Raiders on May 25 and is available to the public from 7pm Tuesday, May 13 via the Warriors store and Dynasty Sport.

It will be available in retail outlets in New Zealand and Australia from Thursday morning.
