metcalf drip fed off the bench just doesnt really work, egan doesnt go for 80 so if we drop healey off and its metcalf on the bench that involves shuffling the spine during the game which is never good. if the theory is to put him at 18 or 19, that means we save an interchange in the event we can give him small minutes late which doesnt work either. imo, either thrust him in at 7 or he gets runs on the board in cup. my preference at the moment is the cup route, but take it one week at a time. by the time he is fit again our makeup could look totally different.
Absolutely. No sense in worrying or pre-empting stuff that usually sorts itself due to injury suspensions etc.

So weird watching our new signing getting smashed multiple times like that lol, his interview sounds like he didn't expect to leave ie saying he realized it's his last year so he's doing too much the last 2 weeks? Man we could do with him at centre next year if he really has that form in him lol, we're so thin in that department

I can see why he is.

The main thing is that he backs CHT as the 6, which is the best take in my opinion.
yeah. I think we all agree on that much. It's just the Mets vs Boyd thing that I don't think will ever get resolved to everyone's satisfaction. I feel SJ has a closer relationship with Mets having played with him. Maybe that is swaying his view a bit. I am personally leaning the other way as I think we just look better organized on both sides of the ball with TB as the organizing half. We were kind of fluking our way to the top 4 this time last year with individual bits of brilliance from Mets rather than the methodical way we are going about things this year.

Which is why I understand his take.

I tend to agree with you on this.

I have zero interest in losing any years with this current crop we have for a player that can't even put a season together.

Call him unlucky, whatever you want. The facts are there that he is one of those unfortunate players who's body just isn't up to NRL standard.

The potential upside of Metcalf is great. But you can't build your club around a key position such as halfback when the guy can't stay on the field. It honestly just doesn't make sense.

It's not as though he has his core halfback roles in place to fall back on like Boyd does, last year he was very much a work in progress. So he can't hit the ground running and fall back on those core skills.

This is the kicker for me. You can build a season around a guy who can't put one together.

Why would you try, when you got a guy who is giving you no reasons to do so?

This whole 'I don't imagine X player lifting the cup' thought path is silly.

I can't imagine anyone in this team lifting the cup, because we've never fucking done it.

If Webby brings Metcalf straight back in when hes fit I will be absolutely bemused. The same goes for the abomination of CNK at centre. It would show some blind spots he has for certain players.

I think people are underestimating how big of a factor having two dicey defensive halfs had on those two losses. We were getting rolled straight through both edges, the attack can pretty much play with their food at that point as both edges are stretched. CHT can give a whole edge defensive confidence and stability. Which means you can slightly assist your weaker edge, as the attack has to try breakdown the weak edge which becomes more predictable.

You're bang on. There's only so many defensive sacrifices you can make before you get your ass kicked.

CHT is such a luxury, because he has that little spark of attacking brilliance but he can also bowl props over in defense.

Webby will be certifiably insane if he boots CHT again.

I don’t think SJ really gave an answer on Met vs Boyd he just said he leans Met because he has x-factor and he knows him, while stating CHT is the pin and indicates it’s black and white on keeping the same team.

Also said halves job was to create time for others when gloating about CHT, which is exactly Luke’s weakness lol

I think there will be revolt if Boyd’s dumped for Luke, he’s our Sexton 2.0 now, Luke needs to get himself right first
