Certainly names named by Coster this morning in Hipkins, Mark Mitchell and Brian Roche that there was previous knowledge by those parties regarding McSkimming’s affair. Perhaps regarded as more of a rumour throughout the timeline before it was substantiated?Something about Coster’s character has me leaning towards his memory, though I do think he acted hugely in favour of McSkimming for the role he was pursuing and hurrying the process along when a complaint had been made

Not quite enough to cost Hopkins or Mitchell their roles.
Coster must rue the day he ever met McSkimming

His memory seemed fine - just he bought it up all informally and it came back to bite him.
I think he comes from a good place Coster in his morals and he’s graciously fallen on his sword while others are dodging. I think many can accept mistakes, perhaps not the victim here in this woman, but provided people own those mistakes, I think that holds weight to some. It certainly does to me. I thought it was interesting his view on how quickly Collins was to jump to police corruption and get the feeling they’ve been gunning for Coster as the face of their soft on crime stance. I personally thought social policing deserved a chance as what’s been done throughout time hasn’t worked and was a worthwhile experiment. He’s not without some blame in parts, but I actually think he’s a loss to the police community

I don't know about that. He knew since 2022 at least and hadn't formally done anything about it, even as head of Police, with what are very serious allegations.

Without knowing the timeline, it seems it was more a concession from McSkimming by that point and seemed to alert all the appropriate avenues along the way. I’m sure he’s covering his own tracks to some degree, but also would not be surprised at all that the other’s knew who he’s said. Interesting a conversation between himself and Mark Mitchell from 2024 was only documented a month ago, so it certainly gives the impression of attempted cover ups to some degree? This initially started as McSkimming and his dodgy internet viewing but quickly snowballed to what it currently is

Mitchell does raise good points in counter to Costers claims of an informal discussion held earlier than Nov 6th. Between Coster, Mitchell and Hipkins one or more are not being truthful, intentionally or not

What about the fact that the victim sent emails to Mitchells electorate office yet he denies getting them
Thirty-six emails containing the allegations were sent to Police Minister Mark Mitchell's office since December 2023, but he told Morning Report he never saw them.

Mitchell said there was protocol put in place by the Commissioner's office that he was not to see the emails.

He was first briefed by Coster on 6 November that there was an IPCA investigation relating to McSkimming and a woman.

He said there was nothing to indicate there was any interference by the senior leadership.

"But it has become obvious with the release of the IPCA report that [interference] is exactly what was happening and everyone can see now just how bad it was," Mitchell said.

As I say, at least one or more of the three aren't being truthful.

Id suggest all three are by some degree

If anything, Hipkins seems to be getting away with the least amount of scrutiny so far despite the appointments and Coster informing him

I think less spotlight on Hipkins is because it was still well in its infancy and was something Coster had relayed to him of McSkimming alerting him an affair had taken place and as he described she became more hysterical as time went on with the emails she started distributing

If it was an active or potential investigation, isn't the Minister unable to get involved? I thought there was supposed to be a degree of separation between politicians and investigations and if emails were sent to the Minister or their office, they should instead be sent on to the Police.

Correct and that is what I posted earlier. Mitchell said on tv that this is exactly what was happening and he had changed the way emails were dealt with.

Our renewal of the septic consent. There is no development, no changes to the existing consented wastewater system and no changes to the operation. just a renewal of any existing consent:

The Māori gravy train in action as per email correspondence received:

Tēnā koe,
I write on behalf of Te Kawerau ā Maki in relation to the proposed wastewater discharge permit renewal ******* (redacted).

I can confirm that Te Kawerau ā Maki hold mana whenua status and the lead cultural interest within this area. Te Kawerau ā Maki have a special relationship with the environment within our rohe (tribal area) and are the kaitiaki (guardians) of such taonga (treasured cultural resources). We have a high cultural interest in the proposal and would like to engage.

We propose undertaking a desktop assessment to start with, so as to better determine the presence, nature and extent of any cultural effects and provide advice as to how to avoid, remedy or mitigate these. Our desktop assessments (and subsequent cultural advice report) have a cost associated: $800 + GST. If, following the desktop review, it is determined that a site visit is required, this will have an additional associated cost : $400 + travel + GST.

The cultural advice report can be used for the consent application. If subsequent to the site visit it is determined a more formal cultural impact assessment (CIA) is required the cost of the site visit can be absorbed within the cost of the CIA (which would be negotiated at the time should the need arise).
