The CEO said they want to have 26 locked in for November. Some of their recruitments won’t join the team until Jan due to World Cup commitments and compulsory stand down for R&R. I think they will have a sold 15 players announced by Feb and then back fill through the year.

The list of Wahs off contract in 2026 and can be negotiated with now is fairly decent, with a good amount of experience which is what new clubs tend to be looking for.

Niukore
Capewell
Taine
Rocco
Boyd
CHT
TMM
DWZ (mutual option)

Surely a couple of those guys end up making the cut for Perth
I could see them going hard for cht- his versatility would give their rooster a lot of flexibility, he’s well known to the public and popular with the players.
Actually looking at that list I could see them making an offer to all them guys tbh.
Probably thinking- if half a dozen warriors recruits are good enough for the panthers…

Their squad is going to look a lot different from some of the superstar filled teams people were posting when they were initially announced as the 18th team.

Reality hitting a bit now.

If they do struggle to sign players or assemble a strong team surely the NRL look a bit closer at the PNG side. I know they have tax incentives but even then how appealing will living in a compound be?

I think PNG will look to sign a chunk of their national side and back fill with experienced players looking for a final pay day. I’d think they target Adrian Lam to be the coach.
