Born in Tonga, Konrad Hurrell moved to New Zealand in 2009 after being awarded an athletic scholarship to Auckland Grammar School. The multi-talented Hurrell played in the backline for the First XV, as well as representing the school in athletics and weightlifting.

In 2011 he switched codes and was selected for the Vodafone Junior Warriors where he quickly made a name for himself. He finished his inaugural year with 22 tries in 21 matches, earning himself a spot in the NYC Team of the Year and helping the club win the NYC premiership for the second season on end.

Hurrell was upgraded to the fulltime NRL squad in 2012, earning a starting spot against Manly at Eden Park in the first round. He has been a dominant and productive force since then, ranking among the club’s top try scorers in each of his two NRL seasons so far. In 2013, Konrad crossed the line 13 times, second only to Manu Vatuvei, and has scored a total of 25 tries in just 37 appearances so far.
