David was originally signed to the South Queensland Crushers but after he couldnt get any game time he was signed to the Gold Coast Chargers where he made his debut against the Broncos in 1998. After the Chargers franchise folded he headed to the Sharks in 1999 but again couldnt get game time.

In 2000 he signed for the Warriors where he played 41 games in 3 seasons. He won Back of the Year at the club in 2000. He was released after the 2002 season and he signed for the Cowboys. After his stint at the Cowboys he went to France and played for Toulouse Olympique before heading back home and signing for the Titans but spent the whole time in Reserve Grade.

Represented USA in the 2007 World Cup qualifying games and was still playing for the team during the 2013 World Cup.
