NRL NRL Round 1, 2024 Discussion

Good introduction to NRL football for the US. Decent enough sized crowd. Couple of tries to both sides and a few other opportunities. Some big hits. A few errors too, but expected in round 1. Some negative Nancy's around but good on the NRL for getting this going. Could be anything in 4 or 5 years and well worth trying.

And so good to have the footy back on.

It does look as though the players are turning it on big time for the occasion as such a nod to the NRL for jazzing up the comp a little - even though it has completely killed the flow of the NRLs season start with a load of bollocks for the sake of it.

Still seems like a festival for pure entertainment rather than four teams fighting for two points in the real comp.

You just know no NBA/NFL/NHL team would ever come Down Under to play a competition game - or even a pre-season game. Or, if they did, they d bring their second-string at best players. I honestly don't see why the NRL has to actually play in the US to get a seat in US Sports Betting...

Don't doubt the intent of the two teams, though.

If the NRL had any brains these would be last years top four and next week they would play for the
American NRL final....likely between the Panthers and the Broncos though way more interesting for them if an outsider like the Warriors upset last years script on their soil, and easy advertising script to sell and more than just two meaningless exhibition games....especially if the underlings the NZ Warriors won it over there.

They could have had Kapa Haka and Aussie Indigenous challenges and all which the Yanks would love....yeah like I say they are habitually inward thinking tards in Aus.

Peter valandys with Yvonne on the pre game build up, so yeah it's about international exposure and growing the game, blah blah then went on about the US betting market for a few minutes.
Not even trying to hide it 🤣🤑
Do you think getting the Warriors in to the NRL was for the good of NZ rugby league?

Extending their market, increased viewing numbers, increased betting, increased revenue.

Good on the NRL for trying this. A couple of games that have some meaning with competition points on the line. Pretty smart.
