General Your 2024 lineup

Of course not. But there's a big misconception that we were stronger when he started. No facts support that however

Maaate I hear you. We all have our favourites and that's fair enough, but it really shits me when people say really out there statements with no back up what's so ever, and even point out holes in the stats or reasoning you've provided lol.

Anyways, with fuck all reasoning here's my starting team for Rd1:

1. CNK
2. DWZ
3. Berry
4. RTS
5. Montoya
6. Metcalf
7. SJ
8. AFB
9. Egan
10. Ale
11. Ford
12. Cape-Wah
13. Tohu

14. Jazz
15. Walker
16. Barnett
17. Niukore

*Jazz to fill in at hooker for 15 each game
* Niukore/Capewell to cover centre/wing injuries (centre pushes out one if wing injured)
*Metcalf/Roger/Walker cover FB if required.
*Ale starts so that he can do Bunty's role last year, has more energy, attack, post contact meters than Bunty and let's Barnett and Niukore come on after 20 min to step up a gear
*Metcalf looked more organic on the weekend, didn't seem to run at every opportunity and seemed less 'wooden'. Had a few nice kicks too that will take the heat off SJ, still has lots to work on but I feel if he has 5+ kicks and 8+ runs a game he'll look great in that team

You’d have to assume Tuaupiki. He deserves it and has been training in that position with the team for over a year now.
This is a real shame because I’d have liked the stronger defensive reads of CNK in case there are any chinks in the armour with RTS so new to his position. On the flip side I guess the extra attention RTS is going to attract might open up someone speedy like Tuaupiki if he’s trailing him?

my vote Tuaupiki, as the reserve last year. RTS was awesome at centre
Tuaupiki taken off at halftime in the trial, would be interesting to know if CNK was injured then. Would think you’d keep him on in that trial to give him as much time as possible? RTS awesome at centre but bet he’s still awesome at fullback also, offers the most like CNK for structures. All I’m considering is last year we had a settled front line defence when Tuaupiki played, now we’ve got an untested front line defence with RTS and and a weaker last line of defence in Tuaupiki. Concerning thing is that article sounded to me like CNK’s injury might take a while with mention of his back also.

Hopefully Taine gets a bit more freedom in the good ball zone.

He needs to be floating around both sides of the ruck to be able to accentuatue his strengths.

I get locking him into CNKs right edge sweeper role probably makes sense for minimal disruption, but I just want to see him let loose.

What did everyone make of jazz on the weekend?
I’ve been a critic of his dummy half work but it was probably the best service he’s given which led me to wonder if he’s been training there?
If he could spend 15 minutes a game there it would give our bench a much better balance.
It really did look like he has been training at dummy half. He looked extremely valid at dummy half.
If I were him and his agent I would have a long think about his future career and what positions are most in demand in the league both from an opportunities perspective, a talent coming through the ranks perspective, and a compesation demand vs supply perspective.
(Sorry too many perspectives in there but you get my point)

Yeah after this team naming the best 17 looks like.....

1 C N Klokstad
2 D W Zelezniak
3 R Berry
4 R T Sheck
5 M Montoya
6 L Metcalf
7 S Johnson
8 A F Blake
9 W Egan
10 M Barnett
11 J Ford
12 L Capewell
13 T Harris

14 J Tavaga
15 M Niukore
16 B Afoa / T Ale
17 D Walker

Well done Jackson Ford, And Metcalf, no doubt those guys will do a great Job. I would still have Ale over bunty hut I'm sure they will go with experience.

Ali Leiataua will be ready for centre or wing first over Pompey or Kosi.

Just read somewhere that CNK might miss the first three rounds. I’m hoping they got mixed up and mean he’s out for three weeks.
Bit of a blow if he is out for a month, it's vital to get off to a good start. Hope Taine kills it but I'm a bit nervous now, maybe Roger is a safer bet at the back. Ah what am I worried about, Webby knows what to do.

I suspect Taine will be an easy selection.

I think the only possibility of RTS would be if Taine goes out and has an absolute shocker of a game.

But I don't see it happening.

1. Tuapiki
2. Montoya
3. RTS
4. Berry
5. DWZ
6. Metcalf
7. SJ
8. AFB
9. Egan
10. Bunty
11. Ford
12. Capewell
13. Tohu

14. Walker
15. Barnett
16. Niukore
17. Jazz

Totally agree. It would just set RTS back those rounds at FB when he could be adapting to centre.
