General Warriors Preseason 2026

NZWarriors.com

So you decided to follow the Warriors! 🤣
As Jud Crandall from Pet Semetary - or the Mechanic from South Park - might say:
Used to be a man could avoid that kind of thing during pre-season games.
But then they televised the pre-season games. So now even in pre-season, yuh, yuh gotta go down that rud.
And don't bury it in the old Indian burial ground. Sometimes what comes out ain't what ya put in! It's Costo goin' on 'bout Merton Bay crabs! Sometimes, mute is better!

And now they're like any other game I watch: I make a determined effort to avoid turning on the TV until 1-2 minutes to kick-off (1st or 2nd Half). That lessens the amount of inane, inaccurate and maybe most annoying of all repetitive analysis before any game by the "experts".
I try and avoid sitting down at Mt Smart too early to avoid any pre-game guff as well.

JERSEY FLEGG (Under-21s)

Any new guys there to keep an eye out for? 90% of those Matts guys were in the squad last year so have been in the pipeline.

Vilikesa Nawaqavonovon is new and is a gun, guessing he could play in the halves or fullback?

I hope Ratcliffe at least makes cup over Doyle, I want to see more of ehat hes got before that call is made.
I doubt that, he's not even doing first grade preseason. Both Lemana and Doyle are.

Ratcliffe's lack of versatility is going to hold him back. Can't justify playing Lemana out of position to accomodate Ratcliffe when Lemana is clearly the better talent.

I wouldn't say clearly. Ratcliffe looks good. I like that he's not a utility. Means he's going to specialize his training. Lemana looks good too. But you can't gage anything until they play against seniors. I do worry about Ratcliffe's toughness though. He's a bit scrawny for my liking. Again, both will grow and when we see them against Cup or FG players then we'll see who retains their potency.

I agree with you, but just to play devil's advocate.
Lemana could do what RTS did with the Roosters and break into first grade as a winger first, before switching to fullback. Having time in that position in the lower grades could be beneficial as well.

Look at his body and killer abs. He could win body sculpting tournaments.
Picking up a couple of good wingers, there’s going to be big competition for positions and Boyd would have gained a lot of confidence last year getting in plenty of first grade, playing finals and carving up in nsw cup and the state championship

Fair enough. For me and what I've seen, I would say clearly. I don't really see the hype in Ratcliffe. Maybe tops out at a Will Kennedy type player at absolute best imo.
