McFadden names 6s,Volkman is a 7.
McFadden can't be naming 6s as the 4th name in his list is Shaun Johnson. It's literally every half bar Volkman

On one hand, It's almost a throw away comment from him. He's just trying to make the point that we have a number of halves.

On the other hand, if it shows that Volkman was not front of mind when listing our halves, it adds a little bit of weight to the other few small suggestions that Volkman is on the outer.

Not enough in isolation to say there's something going on, but one to store in the memory banks in case something else comes up.

Sounds like they are in the process of re signing Tohu Harris 👌

Was almost surprised to see Cappy say that, I had been comparing him to Mannering in my head, they just seem like such similar personalities.

Mannering retired after his 32nd Birthday, with (CMIIW) no history of serious injuries, while Tohu turns 32 in Jan, and he does have a serious injury on his record, along with about 50 different niggles this past season lol

Though, Mannering did start playing first grade younger than Tohu did, and the money Tohu can make is significantly more than Mannering could have, so makes sense, certainly not complaining about having him around longer.

We've also signed a young half coming from Penrith lol

They've probably told Luke he could be SJ's replacement to lure him for the extension

Post SJ, which could be year 2025 or 2026
7) Metcalf
6) TMM
Back up - CHT, young Penrith half turned 20 y/o

The fact MacFadden mentioned CHT as a half rings alarm bells for Volkman, who he forgot to mention, in a way a Freudian Slip

I can’t see Metcalf ever making it as a 7. His skill set is an out and out 6.

I know people laugh at this but I think CHT will be our 7 after SJ retires. I’ve never rated him that highly but I’m excited to see what he can become under Webby. Don’t forget last year SJ played like a pile of dog shit and this year he should have won the Daily M!!

Yeah mate I woulda laughed you outta here with that comment a year ago but the reality is we have no idea how well new players will go under Webby.

Most of our good players played even better under Webby this year, while a lot of the lesser names - Ford, Ale, even DWZ and CNK (yes I'll count him there as he couldn't even finish the year in FG last year) have had career best years under him.

We can only imagine how CHT and Roger will go, but you would have to guess they will be much better than last time....

Ummm, what?

I think SJ’s play making and skills are a massive luxury for us, but the biggest thing he’s added that has been huge in our success has been his game management and kicking. He’s led the comp in many kick statistics this year. I’m not sure the club are hugely confident of anybody taking over the reins at this stage, and for good reason. He’s probably going to be impossible to replace. I could see him sticking around perhaps until 2026 on one year instalments if his body lets him, with the likes of AFB and RTS signed until then I reckon we see our window in 2024, 2025, 2026 and I think if we won a premiership in any of those he’d retire. I see glimpses of SJ in his now style in Volkman every now and then and has the kicking game too, if he’s been told to bide his time and learn off SJ I think he could be the ideal replacement once he’s done and would be the ultimate sign of respect if he gives SJ every opportunity to win the premiership he’s hunting being the long time Warriors stalwart he is. CHT could really make a go of it too with his great attitude and what Webster may be able to bring out in him, I wonder if the Harry Smith rumour if there’s any truth to it is if both options aren’t able to show the game management skills that whoever succeeds him needs.
