International Pacific Championship

I think we need more backrowers
Going through the middles fine against a tonga/Samoa but Australia just play edges to well , short side raids all night.
2 props a lo k and hooked bench is just not working

That may have not been a 50pt thumping, but mostly because both teams didn't look like they gave much of a shit. That second half the kiwis only fired up for 10 mins and then dropped off completely 5 mins before the end.

Munster and DCF brought out their a game.
I thought we could win that game but we were toasted.
Too much energy wasted in that stare down.
Timoko didnt get as much ball as last week.
Brown and Hughes outshone by Munster DCE
Our forwards out matched by a weaker aussie pack.
Disappointing.

Oh we didnt lose the union.
The referee won it.

Very disappointed, thought we had the edge on them on paper. Foz was good again, maybe put him back in the halves with Hughes, still not sold on Brown.

I blame Madge, he's never known how to pick apart a good defence, just rants and raves about attitude. Surely he can't do both NSW and Kiwis jobs, why can't we get Bellamy, or better yet Ivan, lazy bastards with no international jobs.

This reminds me of when the Aussies thrashed us at Eden park and a week or so later we bashed them up and won the final.

No need to panic, we have the talent, our boys are a better in a do or die format, otherwise they try to not go all out in the meaningless games.

I think we will see a complete turn around from the Kiwis next time.

Both halves are running halves really. Needed a setup half like sj to activate the backrowers and edges. Hughes couldn’t get cnk the ball or manu. He’s a support playing half with abit of kicking and passing. They will need double the possession this week to counter their lack of ability. I still believe in them but Madge is looking more and more average as a coach. To counter the origin effect you need elite coaching. Unfortunately I don’t think Madge has it despite that he is the nsw coach lol

On the other hand I thought the job Ricky Henry and his staff did was awesome. I know hes probably got better players off the back of union converts and a full NRLW season but still the defensive system and pressure he instilled and he slowly refined his selections over the 3 games where got it right in the last game, thats good coaching for mine. Will be interested to see what adjustments Madge can make

That's quite interesting as Melbourne seem to make it work (to an extent) with the two running halves of Munster and Hughes. Obviously Bellamy is a far superior coach though

Munster is a more capable kicker than Brown - 240m vs 83m per game average this past season - which means Hughes isn't relied on as much in the Storm.

I don't know why Madge doesn't utilise Foran as a third genuine kicking option like how the Roos use Hunt. Seems a waste, particularly when the Roos have guys like Teddy and Grant as additional tactical kicking options.

We're putting 95% of the kicking burden on a guy who isn't that kind of player.

Hughes averages 278 kick meters for the 2023 regular season at least, he's a perfectly capable kicker.

Brown definitely kicks less for the Eels but that's because Moses is such an on the ball half, like SJ. Whenever Moses is out, Brown does kick reasonably, 196m this season without Moses in the team.

Who can the Kiwis being in to make a difference ?? I don’t think they have any adequate replacements as the other squad members are rookies.
Media are talking about Manu to FB but who goes to Centre?

To me they lost the game by being unable to control the Aussie ruck. The 18 points isn’t too bad, the 36 is the problem. I think the adjustment needs to be in the middle D.
