Love me some CNK at the back - all heart! But TT has been really good at the back as well, and has the ball-playing to give us a bit more variety in attack.
Putting Taine there also gets us to Charnz at centre, solid AF defensively, would do a great job on the kick chase and could do the role in attack; which in turn gets Capes back to 2nd row - he’s been a great fill-in, but week-to-week looks a bit much at centre.
That then lets Marata go back to a starting prop role, and Ford to the bench.
That gives us Ford/Demi as the one-two punch off the bench, Laban to juggle about as required and TMM as cover.
Give Dallin one more chance!

Personally I think we will name the same team, but with an extended bench that gives us some new options. The smart move would be to show the dolphins nothing till we have to. Switch TT to FB, CNK to left centre, Pomps to LW, RTS to RW and Fatialofa to right centre. Throw them something they havent seen before.

I know it's a lot of change, but hell, what do we have to lose.

I’m a little hazy on sides, but as I recall Capes did a great job handling Herbie Farnworth last time (happy to be corrected if the beers have that cooked), so whoever they pick will need to be really solid defensively, cos Herbie’s is elite!

Quite impressed to see that TT has only lost 2 games this season (R1 v Raiders, and R6 v Storm). 9 wins in the NRL and 5 in NSW Cup. NRL team is 9-2 with TT and 3-4 without him (2 of those wins he was 18th/19th man). IMO Taine has done enough on field this season for his spot in the team. Could slot him in at wing (drop DWZ) or fullback (move CNK to centre). Will it happen? Probably not without an injury... but this is the main change I want to see.

Looking more closely at each game, this season is playing out a bit like last year with injuries forcing lots of changes. We've had no stability in the outside backs (other than Pompey). Maybe CNK to centre is the way to get some consistency. That brief moment Pompey switched sides, DWZ didn't look as lost? CNK and RTS could be good together on the other side.



Looking at this we have only played one game with what I think might be the coaches preferred lineup of CNK / DWZ / RTS / AP / RB.

I think Taine has to go to the back, gives danger to boyds game, if its just going to CNK who they know is just going to try an power over.

Metcalf has the skill to challenge himself so CNK having less creativity works better.

They’ve got Linnane next year so that’s one halve coming into the top 30 but another off contract at the end of 2025 is Luke Hanson so I would imagine it’s not a certainty that all players off contract at the end of year will be gone and Metcalf’s injury could change the picture? Time will tell either way, but hopefully we can get back to winning whether that be with Boyd or whoever

Taine in the halves is not all that crazy

I recall in an interview he was saying he used to play in the halves cause he thought he was too small for fullback.

Taine could be the running half replacement we are looking for.... he can kick. Hes got a decent skip pass. Strong on defence. Not afraid to run into a brick wall and put his body on the line.

There has to be some radical changes this week, and do it now so the team can have some weeks of playing together before finals.

There should be absolutely no way Dallin keeps his spot this week!

We could play Pompey on that wing, and play CNK at centre.

Leka has to fill in at centre and i believe he would do a fine job at it.

Capewell must go back to his edge, and there is a case to play Laban over Niukore! We need some physical presence on the right edge.

The Raiders put 40 points on the Knights. The team that we struggled to beat.
The Storm put 30 points on the Tigers.
The Dogs put 40 points on Manly.
All what you would expect from top 4 sides.
The Warriors lost to the potential wooden spooners

We are better than the Dolphins but I don't think we will win without a major rethink. Especially not with the team that played on Saturday.

Charnze and Capewah have leg injuries. DWZ has a defensive brain injury. Give all three a week off.

God so help me if DWZ is in the team next week.

We certainly need a miracle if we don't replace Luke Capewell inside him. Dalin has been left to cover two positions. Leka would be my choice but this won't happen under AW's watch so a fast and strong defensive player must come up from Cup.

If you said at the start of the year that we would lose Barnett, Metcalf, Egan, and CHT would have a mini form dip, barely anyone here would think we would still be in with a chance in any given week.

I await the usual posting how we better put fifty and make a statement win if we are to do anything in the finals posts......

In our favor is we know that Webster ball troubles the Dolphins. Sure make changes to the team if you must but don't throw out the one thing we have going for us, the game plan the Phins struggle against.
