The rule of thumb for everyone was deduct $1K for each point your player was beneath their BE.
Hasn't worked out that way this year or maybe i am just paying closer attention.
Joe Tapine this week was 24 points beneath BE but lost $32K

Anyway if my luck is in Jayden Campbell and Paps will have recovered from injury and be named on TLT tomorrow or I will not be playing with 13.

My update
H2H record 7 wins 11 losses
I am in 15th and in a good spot to make the bottom 8 playoffs (I hope you have this enabled this year Dantheman please check if possible) - I am quietly confident I can cause an upset or two in the playoffs but will see how I go.
Overall rank 44,253
Overall team value 13.117M
Trades left Zero !!! (All Gone - I made my final two half an hour ago).

It's another 8 trades from round 20 isn't it?

This post is entitled welcome to Wrighty's mind

I am a second year player and my insights and how to play are starting to gel with each passing round.
Luck is a big part of this game.
My thoughts on luck and how to manage luck are as follows
1) It is nothing to do with the game. Nathan Cleary getting an HIA 5 minutes into the game where you captained him really happened in real life. It was not an outcome imagined like a chance card in a game of monopoly. So that is my first big insight. Stop associating bad luck with the design of the game, or the rules of the game, or blaming myself for not seeing it coming. You can't see bad luck coming.
2) Try to have a blue print for the game. Stick to your blue print and you will win some and lose some but things will balance out over the season. If you use a bit of this blue print, then the casual athlete's advice, then Jamie's advice and strategy, then you run the risk of just getting the down turns of all these strategies by chopping and changing.
3) Don't have a blue print within the blue print. You may believe you are being strategic and nuanced by layering in an additional blue print to further refine your strategy. But what you are really doing is making exceptions to your blue print. A blue print within the blue print does not work and you end up with conflicting strategies and the potential of missing out on the good luck you could have gotten by sticking with your overall game plan.
4) When making a trade decision delay making the decision until you have lucked upon finding some compelling evidence that makes your mind up for you. That piece of information is out there if you dig away like a beaver. Like everyone I looked into Lawson. I really dug into him as I wanted to get the right cheapie. Eventually I found a compelling nugget. Lawson used to be an Australian International Sevens player. OK no big deal everyone knew that. However he was a forward for the Australian 7s. He was not one of the fast men on the Australian 7s or a dynamic try scorer or someone with a great side step. He was a workhorse player who could tackle with great stamina. He was in the three man scrums. Why would he ever turn out to be a compelling wing in Rugby League? He wasn't going to. I also likewise found other nuggets on other players which took luck out of it

There are other things I still don't know
- I stay away from a player as he has been injury plagued in past years and suddenly this year he carves up
- Rookies who carve up. Are they a flash in the pan or worth jumping on. I don't have a theory or guidelines.
- Fallen stars like Turbo. Form is temporary class is permanent? Or no? Form is all that matters
- What price is too much?

Those lessons can be for next year?

Keen for thoughts on this!

I have 5 trades left 570k in the bank (had a healthy balance before trading Aitken to Foketi)

If I make no trades my 13 this week is

Cook
Clark
May
AFB
Preston
Foketi
Cleary
Katoa
Kiraz
Lucas
Walsh
Teddy
Campbell

With bench of
Savala
Kolo
Garrick
Tapine
Turbo
Lawson
Talaki
Lkt.

Should I trade
LlKT - Crichton
Garrick - Herbie
Tapine - Yeo

Or do I just do Garrick to Herbie this week (Loop lucas and Foketi for back row)
And hold off Crichton and Yeo for a week in case I need to do something else due to injuries.

I would go Herbie in for this week as he should score more than Foketi and he's a end of game keeper. Save all other trades until you need them not for this round.

Yeah if Yeo wasn’t backing up I would do that trade and play Clark at hooker and bench cook but it feels like a risk with the back up.. def want to do Taps to Yeo next week with the way sticky has been sharing the minutes but twos break even prob means I can wait another week.

I don't have time to get into all the podcasts etc, just been using the fantasy stats site occassionally so the following are just my observations after a second year of playing:

Go for the 80 minute second rowers.
It's all about the timing of the minutes for the middles as well. Very noticeable with the timings of AFBs minutes that he piles on the points in the first 20 and he's coming back on quite late in the second half which hasn't been as effective as last season.
Flashy finishers in the backline are great for supercoach, but tackle busters seem to do the job in fantasy.
Always use the % selected to get an idea on the rookie cheapies to pick early on. Drop them if they don't get better after round 3.
Don't get sucked into % selected for proven low scorers even if they've switched clubs and there are hints of greater minutes. They will not suddenly change.

Are there any more DPP updates for the season?

I'm hopping off Jazz this week, which will leave me with Clark as my only HOK. Was looking at Fainu originally to replace him, just to make a bit of cash, but I do like the look of Ben Hunt as a keeper for the rest of the year, provided he can get that HOK position added.

Round 21.

Unless you have 4+ trades left this week, I don't think you have room for anyone making cash. Every trade you make from here on out are keepers.
