Hey maybe we're just looking for a ginger for diversity, Raiders have one, an angry one.
Its a good look ain't it for a League forward.
I agree, we head hunted this lad from England.
If he’s not ready to hit the ground running I would be shocked.
All his concussion history and we still actively chased him.
Must be something special Cappy and Webby have seen.
Otherwise Gannon should have sat down with Souths who were interested and done a deal with them.

We signed him for three years.

Guys are talking like he signed a train and trial contract.

I didn't realise that Morgan Gannon was the second coming of Christ. Now that we know we have our holy saviour on the way next year (from such a small sample set too!), I think we should give up with developing our local talent.

My eyes have rolled so much through this thread that I think I've developed a permanent tic.

Baha pretty stink response when someones spent a bunch of time watching a new recruit specifically, and spent loads of time breaking down a performance. Especially when, the most of us know sweet f all about said new recruit.

Would love to stick the boot in to any thoughtful or insightful responses you've put up, but I got through about 4 of your posts and decided I'd be wasting my time lol

Not sure about that permanent tick you speak of, seems more like a big fat cross instead 🙅

No need to make it personal, mate. But all good - it's just a league forum, just have a laugh and move on.

I like the fact we are still active in the market for younger talent and casting the net wide. They clearly see he offers a skillset that will fit with the team we already have.
We have had a few years now where we have invested in older guys like Capewell and it appears that has helped us transition are local young guys through.....on and off the field.
Looks like a positive, proactive approach from the club and especially with the likes of Neal getting extended too.

I thought Sup42's post was wonderful and I read all of it. We are fans and many of us want to hear about our new recruit in detail. I am sorry you got the reaction you did Sup42.
hey thanks man, but it is cool, funny thing is I edited that post a lot to try to avoid hyperbole and over stating the guys ability off one game.....I did edit out "NSW cup my arse" but hey that was after the first half and he was looking like he wanted to carve the game up....and this a kid...not a mature man....in a first grade contest.

But he had a very quiet second half and also after reflection I noticed that the Press over there were not talking about him in the way Leka and Dimitric get talked up here, and surely they know him eh. So even they don't think he is Sonny Bill Williams at twenty one either.

Mind you they were pretty animated about that first half he played on the call.

I am only just getting to understand that hardly anyone knows much about him, even the Poms because of the long time he has spent not playing, so anyone can pretend to be knowledgeable about this guy because frankly he is an unknown quantity.

All i was trying to do was respond to the original post from (which was excellent) and the mention that he has missed six tackles two games in a row.

A bunch of folk started talking about how that might not be what it sounds like....so I sat through that game for three and a half hours looking for the missed tackles specifically to time stamp them and maybe stop this miss tackled thing getting a life of its own without a closer look.

That was worth it. I couldn't find anything wrong with his defence, the misses were technical misses rather than what we would call a missed tackle.

I will be watching his next game, but don't expect a write up lol bugger that, I knew when I did it, that level of nerd behavior would trigger some....it is just how it is....and hey to me it seemed dumb to log missed tackles time stamped and then not bother doing the same for the really good stuff he was doing while I was there anyway........

Don't shoot the messenger....I should have stated Morgan Gannon won MOM (hey I didn't give it to him they did).

Why say something now? because I am over holding back information about this player for fear of being called a fanboi (I am a fan, he is a good player).

As I said in this thread very clearly, I was surprised in the pre game build up and analysis by people like Sam Tomkins that Gannon wasn't even mentioned as a point of interest, all the talk was about Leeds Star players.

It underscores then that he had a good game if he then wins MOM (I thought Cameron Smith was the MOM in my opinion, Gannon second maybe).

Lets be honest here.

No one saw any of this coming, or we'd have bet everything we had on Metcalf being the Dally M leader at close doors (And probably have been millionaires).

If we're being fair though, look at the list of juniors that have come through and are smashing it under Webby, or older players who have excelled under Webby - the list is fairly impressive.

Players who have excelled under Webby:
Barney
CHT
Metcalf
CNK
Ford
SJ
Clark
Egan
Pompey
AFB

Young guns:
Leka
Demi
Laban
Ali
Healey
TSS
MGT
Tauapiki

All of these players have had either career best years under Webby, or have been given a shot under Webby and have gone pretty well.

I'll be backing Webby to get the best out of about 85% of the players coming to us.

The thing with Gannon is his ceiling is probably Tohu Harris & and his floor is probably Bailey Sironen. Which means there is an NRL player there to what level he gets to is uncertain.

I would say that is very good analogy and at the moment he looks like Bailey Sironen level....but he is twenty one years old. and hinting at being classier, we need more tape.

There are three things I like about this player that are missing from the Warriors.

One he reads the play, comes up in support of the ball carrier at pace (Metcalf and Capewell when Capewell is at center have been showing a bit of that).

Two he looks to pass when in the clear.

Three, he passes left and right well.

All relate to having vision which is something you can teach but someone who has it naturally can take it a lot further.
